Looks fine and gives you some control. Make sure to go to Settings and turn off Software Improvement.

Does CPU cooling work? 

Not at all. All it does is close processes that it thinks are consuming too much resources, making the phone hot. Not only they will be launched back, but they will also consume more power relaunching everything back. Stay away from Boost and uncheck Process inside Clean.

Is it trying to trick me? 

They sure exaggerate some features but overall not that much. They explain every tool and give you warnings when you change things that may break something. There are no extra offers like Clean Master that try to make you think some magic is going to speed up your phone. Also, be sure to disable the notifications as they can get really annoying.

So, if I don't need it, what good can it do for me? 

Unlike what people here like to preach, the cleaning it does looks very good, especially it's App Leftover and ads/temp cleaner. You probably won't notice speed improvement from this, but it keeps your system tidy, can resolve some problems you may be having and after all recover some free space. Another nice feature is the Boot Speedup that lets you control in a easy interface what apps are launched when the system loads. You can even edit system apps. It can make your system get to ready state faster during boot and avoid updates/notifications/checks/etc from apps you want installed but don't want running all the time. This is all cool but none of this will have a great impact if you have a recent phone that can easily deal with this overhead.
