The Tax Agency offers citizens a free mobile application for smartphones and tablets, allowing users to manage their affairs and receive personal notifications and updates easily, securely, and without the need to travel.

This application provides digital identity management through a Reference number, Cl@ve, or electronic certificate (either via software or NFC with an electronic ID).

Available functions through the app include income tax management, appointment scheduling, payment deferrals, checking debts, notifications, document verification, virtual assistance tools, access to previously arranged video calls, census data and tax address, subscription to informational alerts, subscriptions, and a search tool for auction items, as well as the signing of documents and consultation of signed documents.

The app gives access to information and the opportunity to receive alerts about news and personal notifications.

Users must provide personal information to log in, identify their device, and enable the Tax Agency to offer personalized services within its jurisdiction. This requires interaction with the Agency’s own servers, and the Tax Agency informs users that this information will be accessible for their mobile application. Such data will only be used to fulfill users’ tax rights and obligations and will not be shared with third parties, except where permitted under Article 95.1 of the General Tax Law.

The app also features a legally valid privacy notice and ensures the protection of personal data. Part of this information is stored or sent to the Tax Agency's servers, exclusively within the domains it owns. Furthermore, the Tax Agency guarantees that personal information will be secured adequately, retained only for as long as necessary, and solely to provide the aforementioned personalized services.

Access the Tax Agency's app: Pay, defer, and consult

New functionality of the Tax Agency's app for paying, deferring, and consulting

The Tax Agency has added a new service to its app to streamline deferral requests, debt inquiries, and debt payments (download it here:  Tax Agency: Tax Agency App ).

A new feature in the mobile app will allow you to carry out the most common tax collection procedures, saving time and travel, without time restrictions and in a simple and fast way (see the brochure ,  user guide and videos ( long version / short version ) on how to use the three features here).

The taxpayer will be able to request total or partial deferrals, check the status of their debts and obtain a certificate of being up to date if they had debts and made the corresponding payments, all almost instantly.

Starting July 4, 2022, a new service is available on the Tax Agency's mobile app for requesting deferrals, checking and paying debts quickly, easily, and without time restrictions. This will allow taxpayers to save time and travel when completing the most common tax collection procedures.

With this improvement, which will also benefit those who choose to complete their procedures through the Agency's website (sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es), users will be able to request full or partial deferrals, check the status of their debts, and obtain a certificate of compliance if they have debts and make the corresponding payments, all almost instantly, with the consequent reduction in indirect costs.

In the case of deferrals, the Tax Agency's response to the taxpayer's request may also be immediate. In most cases, the application can be resolved in a matter of seconds, and if the applicant has subscribed to the Agency's notification system, they will receive an immediate notification with the resolution of the request via push notification in the app itself, by email to the address provided, or by SMS to the mobile phone number provided by the taxpayer.

Navigation within the app's new functionality has been designed to be comfortable and intuitive, while providing content in a concise and user-friendly manner. Accessing the app requires 'Cl@ve' as the identification system for personalized services. This system is currently used by more than 50% of individuals who interact with the Tax Agency (more information on registering for Cl@ve:  Tax Agency: Cl@ve ).

The launch of the new service comes with helpful documentation (user guides and additional information on each of the options displayed during navigation in the app, as well as various explanatory videos) that is easy to read for all taxpayer profiles. Once the user selects the option that encompasses the entire service ('Pay, defer, and check debts'), three separate access points appear on the first level of navigation, corresponding to the three groups of procedures described in the general access to the service.

Within each of these sections, there are navigation subsections so users can choose the payment option that best suits their needs ('Pay all my debts', 'Select a debt', 'Partial payment of a debt', and 'Payment of garnishment proceedings' when they are not the debtor), deferral ('Request a deferral or installment plan'), and inquiries ('Check debts' and 'My Payments'). Users will also have direct access to interest and deferral calculators within the corresponding sections.

After choosing the specific procedure they wish to complete, the user can complete it by following simple steps on linked screens and will instantly receive the receipt from the Agency corresponding to the procedure completed.

Along the same lines of simplifying the process as much as possible, the deferral and payment procedures offer, by default, the account last used by the taxpayer for any transaction with the Agency. Similarly, the card payment option is accessible to more collaborating entities in a list that taxpayers can consult in the app itself.

Payments by transfer, especially from abroad

You will be able to learn the steps to follow and requirements for payment by bank transfer, which is specifically designed for payments from abroad.

The Official State Gazette of February 4, 2021, published the Resolution of January 18, 2021 , of the General Directorate of the State Tax Administration Agency, which defines the procedure and conditions for the payment of debts through transfers through collaborating entities in the collection management entrusted to the State Tax Administration Agency. 

Effective as of March 15, 2021 , the aforementioned Resolution contains the applicable objective scope thereof, as well as the specifications of the entire procedure, of which the following stand out: 

Payments are permitted for those who do not have an account with a collaborating entity in state tax collection efforts. 

Especially intended for use by those who pay their debts from abroad. 

It can be carried out by both individuals and legal entities. 

Payment will take effect on the date the transfer is received and deposited.  

WARNING: All transfers made without strictly adhering to the procedure set forth in the aforementioned Resolution or ordered from accounts opened in credit institutions that collaborate with the Tax Agency will be returned (with fees and commissions borne by the sender), and therefore, the payment will not have any legal effect.  

You can access this payment method on the Tax Agency's electronic office by selecting  Settlements/Debts - Payment by transfer , or through the self-assessment payment system with debt recognition , after submitting it online and including the Payment Identifier provided in the payment concept.
