Airlines Manager Guide: Tips, Tricks & Strategies to Maximize Your Profits and Expand Your Airline

Speed or Realism?

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

When starting Airlines Manager for the first time, you are given the option of selecting either Tycoon Mode or Professional Mode. Each mode affects the flow of time, mainly affecting the travel time of your planes:

In Tycoon Mode, each hour in real life corresponds to seven hours in the game. This is recommended for new players, and comes with a battle pass system.

In Professional Mode, in-game flight hours are at a 1:1 ratio with real-time. This means that income will take far longer to generate, but it provides a more realistic depiction of what airline management is like. Of course, nothing beats real-world experience so do not try to use this game as proof that you can manage your own airline in real life!

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

We selected Tycoon Mode for the sake of this guide. In addition, the game will recommend you make an account in order to save game progress across multiple devices, even on personal computers. This is optional, though the game will periodically remind you to make an account in exchange for extra money. Making an account is ultimately your decision to make. If you choose not to, a temporary “guest” account will be created for your current device.

After naming your account and selecting your avatar, the game will give your 300 million dollars in-game to get your fledgling airline off the ground, pun wholly intended. To start earning money, you have to set up your own flight plan:

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

The first thing you will do is to buy an airport to serve as your “hub.” The available locations are based on real airports around the world. All available aircraft are sorted into categories from 1 to 10 based on how long the runway has to be for the selected plane to safely take off.

For example, an airport whose runway can only support aircraft up to category 9 will be listed as “Category: 1 -> 9.” Any Category 10 aircraft your airline owns will not be able to land there. To keep things safe, select an airport that can comfortably support all 10 aircraft categories.

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

The second airport will serve as your airline’s first route, where you can assign a plane that can travel far enough to its destination, refuel, and return. The game will pull up a list of compatible aircraft for you to purchase, each with their own number of seats, fuel consumption, and rate of wear.

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

After assigning or purchasing a plane for your route, the game will let you decide the ratio of Economy, Business Class, and First-Class seats on the plane itself, with a cap of each seating category. The game will automatically set ticket prices accordingly, which you can change later on to adapt to demand.

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

The last thing you have to do for your flight plan is to schedule it. The game will display a calendar display showing a week, and all you have to do is drag the flight to any available timeslots. You can adjust flight availability later on if you wish.

Airlines Manager: Plane Tycoon

Once everything is set up, your flight plan is ready to go, and your selected plane will load passengers and follow the route you set up. On the world map, you can see any flights handled by your airline, with planes flying along the routes if their schedules match up with the in-game date—this is listed directly below the map. Remember that the mode you selected before starting the game will determine how fast your aircraft makes it to your destination.

While the game’s tutorial wraps up after setting up your first flight, there are several game mechanics for you to explore, which can help maintain your airline and expand your business’s coverage. The game features a help system that can walk you through these mechanics, even linking you to a website dedicated for this purpose.

Airlines Manager also includes an “Agenda” system that serves as the game’s equivalent to daily quests, rewarding cash for completing them. There are even alliances you can join so that you can share your profits and achievements with other players.

Game is fun. Ads are becoming more and more irritating. Now they take longer to close and need many clicks. Some have tiny close buttons that are hard to find. This can accidentally open the store page, which you then have to close. Some ads have no close button and force you to restart the game. And some ads are surveys, which if ignored, you won't get rewards.

The game is so cool, it feels like everything we do is real. I have a suggestion: add side tasks like investments in mutual funds or stocks to boost revenue. It would make the game even better!

Impressive! They've got 22 tracking service providers going on. Great job - gonna uninstall this game now. The graphics are cool and the concept is interesting. However, there are so many irritating bugs in this game. The gameplay rules are all over the place, and they do a poor job of explaining things. The controls and appearance are totally different between the app and the website. Update: There are some nice perks if you watch ads. But once you've seen one ad, you need to restart the game to see the next one.

There are so many ads in the new version. It seems like the developers want to show an ad for everything you do, or make you buy a temporary solution every month. The connection keeps dropping in this version, as if they switched servers without checking if it works well. Also, there are too many extra steps for simple tasks. Like when you try to train your staff, you have to answer unnecessary questions and then get kicked out of the training menu. It's really annoying.

Adding a small animation to display the real takeoff and landing of the plane would be cool. It would also be great if the aircraft details showed the number of passengers on board. A few more tweaks could really enhance the overall user experience of the game. It's already 80% there, just a couple more features are needed to make it perfect. I hope the team considers working on these additions. If these changes are made, I'd definitely consider purchasing the game.

It's more of a tool to plan schedules than a game where you manage an airline. You can set up flight times, but passenger interest stays the same. There's no rival airlines to compete with. It becomes boring quickly. It bothers you by asking you to log in frequently. If you don't check in every two days to do maintenance, your planes deteriorate. For automatic upkeep, you have to pay $5.99 per month, which is too expensive for a non-game. Now it won't let me remove my information until an auction finishes.

The game is good, but there's room for improvement. It'd be awesome to design your own terminal at the hubs - pick the architecture style, colors, and jet bridge type. Adding these features would be so cool! It'd also be neat to select and customize the design of your plane seat.
