How to enable spell checking

You can use spell checking, hyphenation and thesaurus of OpenOffice from AndrOpen Office 1.5.2.

If you want to use it, you need to download dictionaries and turn on spell checking.

This article is about how to enable spell checking in AndrOpen Office.

1. Download dictionaries from OpenOffice site

First, AndrOpen Office doesn't have dictionaries for spell checking, so you need to download dictionaries of your own language.

You can get the dictionaries as a OpenOffice extension from Apache OpenOffice Extensions (http://extensions.openoffice.org/) site.

You can go to site by "Get more dictionaries ..." menu in "More Information" screen.

Using it is really unpleasant and not easy to understand. It seems like they just copied OpenOffice and added a basic Android interface. You'll need a keyboard and mouse to use it comfortably. A stylus can also help. I wouldn't suggest using it for documents, spreadsheets, or presentations (the presentation tool didn't even work). However, Draw is the complete desktop software. I've looked around a lot, but there's no other app like it on Android.

I was trying to search for something in a big document on my phone, but the search function was acting really weird. I typed in four letters, but only three showed up. After that, the letters kept disappearing and reappearing randomly, and I couldn't do anything about it. To make things worse, my phone's keyboard got stuck on the screen and wouldn't go away even when I closed the app.

Initially found it a bit confusing, but eventually realized it was simple and informative. Definitely better than those fancy office apps.

The product is awesome but has a few small problems. The best thing is that it's not a subscription; you just pay once for full access to many features. It's free unless you want the full version, which is very cheap. It's the most complete Android office among six others I checked, and the rest were all subscriptions. Bugs get fixed, and the developer communicates well. It's still the best.

Installing this app doesn't work properly until you set up additional components such as language packs for the dictionaries to function. The appearance and formatting of my odt files are different on this Chromebook app compared to the desktop Open Office, possibly due to missing fonts. Nevertheless, experienced users who purchase the full version may find this app useful. For simple word processing tasks or office suite needs on Android, this app is ideal. I work as an author and publisher.

The fonts look the same. Saving things is tricky here. Other Open Office versions make it easy. This one? Nope, couldn't figure it out. The Free Version can't connect to cloud storage or your device's documents folder. But the other free versions can. Basically, not much use without spending $7.

This office app in the play store is the most feature rich and supports a wide variety of file types. The home screen works well, but the PDF editor and calculator don't feel optimized for touch screens. The windows don't fit on the screen properly, and scrolling horizontally in the calculator can be unresponsive and rough. The user interface looks outdated and could use some improvements to make it more user-friendly.

The Impress document keeps showing a warning about data loss. I'm not sure if it's updating the app or the document when I choose to update. But then the file crashes, probably because of the audio files. At least PowerPoint on Chromebook has been getting better lately.
