How are customers matched with pros?

Our platform helps connect certified service professionals with customers like you who are looking for a better way to book home services.

When you make a booking, we share it with the network of pros using our platform, and they're able to claim the bookings that suit their preferences. If you find a pro that you really love, you can add them to your Pro Team, so they get priority access to your bookings.

Who is responsible for tools, supplies, & materials?

Your professional will come equipped with the basic tools they will need to get the job done, along with basic supplies like nails, screws, and glues. For larger materials (like drywall or the fixtures being installed) or replacement parts, you should arrange with your Pro whether you will provide them or if you would like your Pro to purchase them on your behalf. If your Pro purchases the materials, you can reimburse them directly or add the cost to your final Handy invoice by following the steps below. Please feel free to take photos of the job prior to its start, and communicate with your Pro ahead of time to determine any non-basic material needs.

If your pro purchases materials for your booking you can reimburse them directly or follow the below instructions:

When purchasing materials, your Pro will text you the total cost. If you agree to the cost, you MUST confirm this over text / in the app chat before your Pro can purchase the materials.

Once the Pro submits their receipt of purchase, our Customer Experience Team will update your payment for the job to include the cost of the materials and Handy will send that payment on to the Pro.

What services are offered and what is included?

Handyman Services

We admit that "handyman" is a pretty generic word, but that's because the professionals on the platform can accommodate a wide range of requests, small projects and assemblies that might look more like a 3d puzzle kit, than the new couch you need help installing. These professionals can get it done and they can get it done the right way.

There are limitations, of course. Since professionals on the Handy platform are all independent service providers, we can't guarantee that they're licensed in their field, and thus, they can't perform services that require a license. Rules are rules, y'know?

Interior Painting Services

Here’s what you can expect from an interior painting job with a professional booked through Handy. Please make sure to tell your pro about any specific preferences.

What’s included for one room painting:

Medium sized room (300 sqft)

Walls only

2 coats of paint

10 ft. floor to ceiling

Taping up to 2 windows

Unfurnished

Current color of wall is lighter shade (i.e. white)

Up to 1 door

Professionals bring equipment to complete these tasks, such as a tape measure, stirrers, roller, roller tray, paint brushes, painter’s tape, drop cloths, hole filler, screwdriver, and sponges.

Please note that you are responsible for supplying the paint and primer.

Yard Cleanup Services

Here’s what you can expect from a yard cleanup with a professional booked through Handy at the quoted price.  Please make sure to tell your pro about any specific preferences once you’ve booked.

What’s included:

Yard size of up to 3000 sqft

General leaf removal

Mowing grass that is up to 12 inches high

Trimming lawn edges that are against fences, structures or trees

Clean off grass clippings from driveway, curb and other areas with a blower or broom

Small bushes trimming (under 3 feet)

Weed eating planted areas

Bag away grass clippings and debris

Professionals bring equipment to complete these tasks, such as a lawn mower, leaf blower, string trimmer, weed eater, and basic hand tools.

Extra services you should ask us about -- they may be outside the scope of your quote:

    Got two jobs lined up. First job, loaded my tools and headed out. By the time I was done with work, the job vanished. No notification at all. Rushed to get there, only to find out through customer service it got canceled. Then came the second job. Tried reaching the customer for two days. It felt hopeless. Customer service told me they’d try, but I had to show up or face a $50 fine for not going. Spent four hours arguing about it. Finally, I decided to go since there was a bonus on the line. Arrived, but the customer turned me away. Now I’m left with nothing!

    The pro app delivers on its promises. Some reviews might say otherwise, but you can definitely call the customer right after claiming a job. It’s a good idea to confirm appointments a day or two in advance. Handy support can be tricky to reach by phone, but they respond quickly through email and chat in the app. I haven't faced any problems at all. Definitely a five-star experience!

    Overall, the experience has been mostly positive. I encountered a lack of support. A cancellation fee appeared on my bill during a state of emergency. After sending them two emails, they processed the refund. However, my main frustration came from completing seven jobs in six days and only getting paid $150. The requirement was six jobs, yet they took that money back without any explanation. It felt unfair since they shouldn’t be able to withdraw funds like that. Eventually, I got paid again and cashed out.

    Feeling frustrated. Tried to change my rating but can't use the app. Completed everything, background check went through. While waiting, I had access, everything worked fine. Then I got the alert that my background cleared. Went to log in, and suddenly the app glitches. Every time I log in, it closes immediately. Message pops up about a bug needing a fix. Now I'm stuck and just want to reinstall when it's sorted out. So annoying!

    This review focuses only on the application. It constantly prompts users to update payment information, even after updating it multiple times. Support staff appears to be based in India. Good intentions are clear, but communication struggles arise due to the language barrier. Interacting with several representatives and repeating issues feels frustrating and time-consuming. This experience drives me to think about stopping my use of the service entirely.

    That was the worst gig ever! Out of nowhere, they hit you with fees. They take a huge chunk of your payments, like 60%. And on top of that, they charge $2 just to access your own money. Support? It comes from overseas and isn’t helpful at all. Jobs can get canceled, and you end up with nothing. Steer clear of this place! To make matters worse, they mess up payments and then point fingers at you for their app not working right. I reached out to them about past dues, and guess what? No payment coming my way. Avoid at all costs!

    This app has potential. It could help earn some money. But wow, the performance is a struggle. It's filled with glitches. Notification overload is real. One job sends multiple alerts at once. Four notifications get sent simultaneously for one opportunity. Distance makes it worse and then there’s more coming throughout the day. Frustratingly repetitive. Every time I add a photo, it disappears. It happened five times already. Constantly losing my work. Messaging customers? That feature barely functions. Communication through the app feels like a battle. Overall, it's a tough experience with so many bumps along the way.

    Using the job app has been going well overall, but there's a major problem. For certain jobs, a quiz is necessary before claiming them. This wouldn't be an issue if the app functioned properly, but it doesn't. When I tap on the box to take the quiz, the screen refreshes and says the job isn’t available, even though it still shows as claimable. Reaching out to customer support hasn’t helped at all with this glitch.
