How can I listen to my local sports team’s play-by-play broadcast?
In order to hear a sports play-by-play broadcast on Audacy, there are two factors that determine your ability to stream a game. One is where your mobile device geolocates you and the other is the local play-by-play streaming rights.
We've updated our capabilities to more accurately determine your location. In order to make sure we have your correct location, we require location sharing via your device settings. Please see below for an outline for enabling location sharing:
Open the Audacy app
Tap the My Audio icon to the far right of the bottom bar
Tap the Settings gear at the top right
Tap Location
Tap open Settings at the bottom of the page. This will open your device's settings for Audacy’s location permissions.
If you are on your mobile device, you can also click this link: https://go.audacy.com/open-app-settings
The required settings are:
Precise
“Always” or “While using the App”
Android Settings Page for Device Location
If you opt to not allow permission services as suggested or you are using the Desktop Web Player, Audacy utilizes IP-address-based geotargeting, which is not always accurate depending on your internet/cellular provider’s operational needs.
Note: Geolocation for Audacy is only available on mobile devices, not computers using the Desktop Web Player.
The second factor in determining if you are able to hear a game is the actual contractual streaming agreement the station has with the team they are broadcasting. Some teams do not allow mobile devices, while some are only permitted to stream within a certain radius of the team’s home stadium.
In the case of a syndicated Westwood One broadcast, you may not be able to stream if you are near the home cities of either teams that are playing.
