FAQ

How do I know when I can pick up an item that's waiting to be collected at a Post Office?

If you've got an item waiting to be collected from the Post Office, we'll let you know with an email, app or SMS notification (if we have your contact details).

The notification will include:

- the date and time from when your item will be available

the opening hours of the Post Office

Tracking

If your item was sent using one of our trackable services and you’ve got your tracking number handy, you’ll also be able to track your item online to see where and when it’s ready for collection.

How do I manage the tracking notifications Australia Post sends?

To update the email & SMS notifications we send:

1. log in to your MyPost account on desktop or mobile

2. choose Manage account,

3. select Preferences > Delivery notifications

4. select the notifications that you’re most interested in, and deselect any you don’t want to receive

If you have the AusPost app, simply open the app, tap the Account icon, then choose Notification preferences from the menu, and adjust the settings accordingly.

If you choose to not have an account and wish to opt out of all notifications from Australia Post, we won’t be able to send critical notifications about your deliveries. Contact our customer centre on 13 13 18 so we can inform you and ensure you’re fully aware of the impact this may have. For security reasons, we will verify your email address and/or SMS details.

What does 'awaiting collection' mean when tracking my item?

'Awaiting collection' means your parcel is ready for you to pick up from a Post Office, PO Box or Parcel Locker.

We’ll send you an email, app or SMS notification to let you know where and when you can collect it.

When collecting your item, make sure you bring suitable ID with you.

Where can I find my tracking number?

Where you can find your tracking number, or article ID, depends on what service was used to send your item and how it was posted.

For senders:

If your item was posted over the counter at a Post Office

then in many cases your tracking number, or article ID, can be found on the receipt provided.

If your item was sent using one of our tracked services such as prepaid satchels

your tracking number can be found on the barcode on your item, and/or on the removable sticker.

For receivers:

If you're expecting delivery of an item and the sender has given us your email address

we'll send you emails to let you know your tracking number and the progress of your item as part of our free Track Advice service.

If you've ordered an item online

the sender may have included the tracking number, or article ID, on your order confirmation or invoice.

So, this app that I've been using, it's not really keeping up with what's going on with my parcels. I've been trying to organize my schedule so I can be at home to get the parcels when they arrive, you know? But the app keeps telling me that my parcels are in a different part of the state when in reality, they're on their way to my house. It'd be really nice if the system was as trustworthy as AustPost used to be. You know, reliability is really important, and this app just isn't cutting it. Honestly! Like, seriously, why is it saying Melbourne South East, Melbourne Airport, SW, Bayswater? It's all so inefficient, making the delivery take longer and causing extra handling.

This service is quick and trustworthy. They might automatically include your packages, but not always. However, I have never encountered any problems with them.

The app is good, but the features are truly amazing! They can be accessed on their website too, but the app makes it so much easier. The innovation is fantastic. With snail mail becoming less common, this is a smart solution to keep things moving.

Oh, this app is different from the usual ones you find out there. It doesn't suffer from old age and neglect. It's actually quite snappy and efficient, offering most of what you might need right within the app. And navigating around it is just so smooth and easy thanks to its user-friendly interface.

This app is really user-friendly and helpful for keeping track of your packages. It's great for knowing when your delivery will arrive during the day. The only downside is that it can be a bit slow at times and may show errors, but closing and reopening the app usually fixes the problem. I would definitely suggest using this app.

The app used to be really awesome with its beautiful colors and thoughtful design. But then in November, they changed the font to one that just doesn't match the style of the app at all. And those vibrant action bars that showed the parcel status? Now they're just grey. It would have been better if they'd kept it red like the rest of the app, don't you think?

The Auspost app is awesome! You can track your package and get notifications all in one place. What's cool is you can even name your item so you know what's coming. I love that I get a heads up before my delivery, with a 2-hour window estimate. The app is easy to use too, which is great for me at 64 years old. And let's not overlook the friendly posties – they make it even better. I'm totally thrilled with it! 😊

The app works well, but the way people handle it isn't great. The app itself is fine. However, I'm not pleased with Australia Post. They didn't deliver my parcels where I asked them to. They made me go to a completely different place to pick up or receive my parcel where it was convenient for them. There was no apology for the inconvenience caused to me. I wish there was another delivery service apart from Australia Post that I could try out instead.

The app is awesome! It helps me keep track of all my parcels. It's way better than sifting through a bunch of emails. I just wish there was an option to ask for a package to be left at home, even if they were told to take it to the post office. Sometimes senders do this for silly reasons... we should get to decide. Thanks for your hard work handling all the orders. The mail carriers who bring parcels to my house are always really nice.
