1. Warning Signs

Sign 1.1. Railway crossing with a barrier

Warns about approaching a railway crossing with a barrier. Outside a built-up area (locality) it is installed at a distance of 150-300 m, in a built-up area — at a distance of 50-100 m.

Features:

A vehicle driver can cross the railway tracks only at railway crossings, giving way to a train (locomotive, trolley).

It is prohibited:

a) overtaking at railway crossings and closer than 100 m in front of them;

b) stopping and parking at railway crossings;

c) parking is closer than 50 m from railway crossings;

d) U-turn;

e) reversing;

f) to transport agricultural, road, construction and other machines through the crossing in a non-transport position;

g) movement of slow-moving machines with a speed of less than 8 km/h, as well as tractor sledges without the permission of the head of the track distance;

h) drive around vehicles standing in front of a closed barrier with an exit to the oncoming traffic lane;

i) open the barrier without permission.

Sign 1.2. Railway crossing without a barrier

Sign 1.3.2. Multi-track railway

It is installed immediately before the railway crossing.

Features:

Installed when there are two or more paths (3, 4, 5, etc.).

In the absence of barriers at a railway crossing, signs 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 determine the size of the crossing.

Sign 1.4. Approaching a railway crossing

Additional warning about approaching a railway crossing outside built-up areas.

They are installed outside the settlement at a distance of 150-300 meters, while the distance between the signs is proportional.

Features:

Signs 1.4.1-1.4.3 are installed on the right side of the road. and signs 1.4.4-1.4.6 on the left.

Sign 1.5. Intersection with tram line

It is installed in the locality 50-100 m before the intersection with the tram line, outside the locality — 150-300 m, it can be set at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features:

With the simultaneous right to move (when vehicles are in equivalent conditions), tram drivers have priority.

Outside intersections where tram tracks cross the path of trackless vehicles, the tram has priority, except when leaving the depot.

Sign 1.6. Intersection of equivalent roads

It is installed 50-100 m in the locality, 150-300 m outside the locality, the sign can be installed at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features: At such intersections of equivalent roads, overtaking is prohibited by all types of transport by all vehicles.

Sign 1.7. Roundabout intersection

It is installed 50-100 m in the locality, 150-300 m outside the locality, the sign can be installed at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features: When approaching such an intersection, it is recommended to reduce the speed to safe limits and follow the rules for passing intersections.

Sign 1.8. Traffic light regulation

An intersection, pedestrian crossing or a section of road where traffic is regulated by a traffic light.

It is installed 50-100 m in the locality, 150-300 m outside the locality, the sign can be installed at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features:

The sign warns of approaching an intersection, pedestrian crossing or a section of the road where traffic is regulated by a traffic light.

A yellow background means that this sign is temporary. In addition, signs installed on portable supports are considered temporary. (Effective March 1, 2023.)

In cases where the meanings of temporary road signs and stationary road signs contradict each other, drivers must be guided by temporary signs.

Punishment for violation of the requirements of the sign:

Sign 1.9. Drawbridge

Drawbridge or ferry crossing.

It is installed 50-100 m in the locality, 150-300 m outside the locality, the sign can be installed at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features:

The sign must be repeated outside the built-up area, while the repeated sign is installed at a distance of at least 50 m.

Sign 1.10. Exit to the embankment

Exit to the embankment or shore.

It is installed 50-100 m in the locality, 150-300 m outside the locality, the sign can be installed at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features:

The sign must be repeated outside the built-up area, while the repeated sign is installed at a distance of at least 50 m.

Sign 1.11.1. Dangerous Turn (Right)

Curved road with a small radius or limited visibility.

It is installed 50-100 m in the locality, 150-300 m outside the locality, the sign can be installed at a different distance, but the distance is specified in Table 8.1.1 "Distance to the object".

Features:

Difference in the direction of the turn (right, left). The sign informs only about the direction of the first turn behind the sign.

Sign 1.11.2. Dangerous Turn (Left)

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Passing the traffic police exam

The main condition for obtaining a driver's license or, as they often say, "rights" is successfully passing the exam at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. The task is difficult, but doable, it is only important to prepare well: collect as much information as possible on how to pass the exam at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate according to the new rules, learn the traffic rules (traffic rules), practice solving traffic rules tickets online and learn how to drive around your city - driving schools will help you with this.

2. What exams do you need to take for a license in the traffic police

To get a license at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, you will need to pass two exams:

theoretical - on knowledge of traffic rules

practical - on the application of traffic rules in practice and the ability to drive a car

The theoretical exam on knowledge of traffic rules at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate is similar to the one that all driving school students take: having received a traffic rules ticket, the examinee must answer 20 questions in 20 minutes. You can make two mistakes, but in this case you will have to answer questions in additional time: 5 questions in 5 minutes if you made one mistake and 10 in 10 minutes if you made two.

Those who successfully cope with this part of the test are admitted to a much more difficult - practical exam. The future driver must drive along a certain route, observing the traffic rules and performing about 20 maneuvers at the direction of the examiner.

3. Where to take exams to obtain a driver's license

If you are a citizen of the Russian Federation, you can take the exam for a license at any traffic police department in the territory of the Russian Federation (but after completing driving school, this will most likely be the department to which it "belongs"), but foreign citizens are limited in choice - they can take exams and get a driver's license only in the locality where they are registered, but at any traffic police department, without being tied to a specific address.

The theory of traffic rules is taken in a specially equipped classroom: each person taking the traffic rules exam is allocated an automated place, the exam is audio-video monitored, and representatives of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate are also present in the classroom.

Driving is usually taken immediately after the theoretical exam at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (although the law allows an interval of six months between exams). The candidate driver must drive along the roads of a populated area, following the instructions of the examiner. Along the way, the future driver will have to perform about 20 (for category "B" - 15) maneuvers stipulated by the state regulations.
