2. How to Create a Testnet Wallet

Sometimes you want to test transactions on the blockchain or implementations for payment solutions. You can do this with test funds on the testnet blockchain so that there is no monetary cost to testing. Testnet coins carry no value and cannot be used to pay transactions.

After you have the BitPay or Copay wallet installed, you can follow the below steps to create a testnet wallet (more information on testnet wallets).

Only the following coins have testnet capabilities:

    Bitcoin (BTC)

    Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

Ethereum (ETH) (Does not include ERC20 stablecoins.)

    Ripple (XRP)

The following steps are valid for all the above mentioned coins.

    1. Click the ··· icon in the Wallet tab of the app.

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

    2. Click Create a new wallet.

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

    3. Select Simple Wallet.

    5. Name the wallet (1), tap Show advanced options (2).

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

    6. Enable Testnet (1) and tap CREATE (2).

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

You can choose to protect the wallet with a password if you like.

The testnet wallet has now been created.

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

Testnet wallets are indicated by a gray icon currency on the wallets tab (1) and a small flask symbol and a TESTNET text on the wallet view (2). If you see the flask symbol, you are dealing with a testnet wallet. For more information on Testnet Wallets, please click here.

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

Now that you have a wallet set up, you are ready to receive some testnet coins. Testnet bitcoins carry no value, and cannot be used to pay monetary transactions. They are solely for testing transactions and implementations.

First, you will need to get the receiving address for your testnet wallet. Click Receive at the bottom of the screen (1) while in the testnet wallet, then click the address at the bottom to copy it to your phone or computer’s clipboard (2).

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

Navigate to your choice of testnet faucet, paste your testnet address, click Get Bitcoins! and solve the captcha.

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

    3. The faucet will send you a random amount of testnet cryptocurrency.

BitPay: Secure Crypto Wallet

Within a few minutes you should see the pending transaction, and a balance in your testnet wallet.

I finally got around to updating my review. Bank of the West resolved everything. It's pretty neat having the card when I earn a lot of money and just want my bank accounts to chill. I've been using it for years now. I usually keep most transactions under $600, just for fun.

So, transferring from crypto to the MC is super fast and easy! But when you need help, it's like being alone on a deserted island. If you're fortunate, they might get back to you in about two days, but all you'll probably receive is a link to some article that doesn't even help with your problem. I made a Litecoin wallet on BitPay but for some reason, the addresses it generates aren't recognized by any other Litecoin wallets. After going back and forth so many times, they still haven't answered my questions about why this is happening. All I keep getting are links to articles that have nothing to do with what's going on. It seems like customer service is way more trouble for them and they don't care enough to make an effort. Sure, Coinbase has its own problems and can be pricier, but at least their reliability and service are worth it if you ever run into issues. If you're lucky enough to use BitPay and never need support, then go for it. Otherwise, maybe try something else. An update: It's been two weeks now since this problem started, and it's still not fixed. I'm just getting generic instructions to tweak settings that don't even exist in my wallet. At this point, my wallet is basically useless, and honestly, it feels like BitPay just doesn't give a darn.

You got a notice saying to update, but now you can't open it. So, not wanting to take any risks, you didn't tap the update notification and went to the store to check for an update (which there wasn't). Then you opened the app only to see a white screen. After trying twice with no luck, you decided to uninstall it. You reinstalled the app, and it worked briefly before showing a white screen again.

So, my wallet was acting up. I moved the money to my card 12 hours back, and then out of nowhere, my app and card just stopped functioning. The only way to reach out to those who can help is through email and it's been a tough time. Dealing with the customer service has been quite frustrating. But hey, here comes an update! Everything got sorted out and has been running smoothly for the past few months. The new cards they sent are really cool. I'm totally loving it.

I'm glad you're enjoying the app! It's great how you can easily convert your BTC and BCH to USD for spending wherever Visa is accepted. Even though there are fees involved, it's worth it for the convenience and the nature of transactions involving BTC and BCH. Adding funds to your card through the app is a breeze, with BCH being free to add. I believe BTC incurs a .11 fee, which isn't too bad. Comparing it to the Square BTC debit card, BitPay's features are superior, although Square may be simpler to navigate. I highly recommend giving this card a try!

I feel frustrated because the security key backup is not helpful for me as I have ALS. It's really hard for me to save it. I can't take a screenshot, copy and paste, or even search for a word without it getting mixed up. The system is not accessible for people with disabilities like me. ALS limits my ability to use my hands properly, but I have to manage without that option due to the disease.
