Introducing Body Temperature Thermometer

A comprehensive app called Fever Thermometer designed for individuals experiencing fever.

This app allows users to easily track, document, and analyze their body temperature and pulse readings. Users can save this information along with additional data such as heart rate, mood, location of measurement, etc. By launching the app, entering values, and saving them, users can maintain accurate records and later access and review them. Fever Thermometer creates visually appealing charts and graphs based on the inputted data, offering a logical representation of the user's health.

It also enables users to adjust time/date, record BMI, and stores temperature measurements in Celsius or Fahrenheit units. The app generates reports in various formats, providing analytical data for users' reference. Fever Thermometer serves as a reliable medical record book, capturing vital details and ensuring data security. The app can convert temperatures between Celsius and Fahrenheit units.

General Guide: How to use temperature sensor to measure body temperature

Before anything else, you need to make sure that the Pixel Thermometer app is updated before proceeding. You’ll realize that after launching the app because the main screen will now have two options for measuring: object temperature and body temperature.

Even though it’s FDA-cleared, it cannot be used to detect illnesses — nor does it replace the advice of your healthcare provider. Furthermore, it does require you to remove any obstructions on the phone (like a case) and you’ll need to remove any accessories that cover your forehead and temples for it to properly function. Once you’ve done all that, you’re ready to use Pixel 8 Pro temperature sensor to measure body temperature.

1. Run the app, select your age range

Open the Thermometer app on your Pixel 8 Pro, then select the options for body temperature from the main screen. Tap on the pull down menu on the upper right side to select your age range.

2. Measure your body temperature

Click on the giant ‘tap to measure’ icon that takes up nearly the entire screen. You’ll then be instructed to flip over the phone so that the temperature sensor is facing you. Slowly move the center of the Pixel 8 Pro closer to your forehead until you feel a vibration, which indicates it’s in proper range (usually less than 1 centimeter away).

Once it’s ready, you’ll need to slowly move the Pixel 8 Pro across one side of your temple (usually right above your eye) without touching your skin until it tells you to stop. Again, you’ll have audible instructions for this procedure — along with vibrations to indicate it’s measuring your temperature.

3. Save your measurement

Once you successfully take a measurement, you’ll have the option to save it by pressing on the corresponding button on the bottom right corner. All of your readings will be saved in the app, but you can also choose to save it to Fitbit as well — so you can keep a history for yourself.

Measuring your body temperature is that easy, and quite frankly, makes the sensor more practical to use than before. Even though it’s not meant to provide you with medical guidance, keeping a history of your body temperature could provide you insights to fluctuations due to a cold or sickness. Instead of having to buy a thermometer, you can lean on this new feature at home until you get to the doctor.

Besides the temperature sensor, the Pixel 8 Pro is remarkable for being one of the pioneers with artificial intelligence in phones. We break down in detail how to tap into some of its new AI-assisted features, like capturing picture perfect snapshots with Best Take, using generative AI to resize subjects with Magic Editor, and using its upgraded Call Screen feature to let Google Assistant take phone calls for you.

What Does the Thermometer App Do?

1. Allows you to safely enter your temperature readings and store your readings over time so you can track your progress in charts and logs.

2. Set reminders to take your temperature at regular intervals to monitor your health

3. Share your readings with your doctor, family or caregiver by exporting a log sheet or adding them to view your reading within the App electronically

The thermometer app also:

- Tracks multiple people’s temperatures

- Can be used to monitor pets’ temperatures

- Has a Celsius and Fahrenheit measurements built-in

- Set goals and reminders for various health measurements

- Track Medications, Symptoms, Fluids, Activity, Sleep, Stool and more in 1 app

What is considered a high body temperature or fever?

A high body temperature is considered a fever if it exceeds 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit which is 38 degrees Celcius. A fever can be a symptom of many different illnesses and can range in severity from mild to life-threatening. If you have a fever, it is important to seek medical attention to determine the cause and receive proper treatment.

Different ages have different temperatures for fever

For example, a baby’s normal temperature may be up to 100.4F (38C), while an adults is usually 98.6F (37C). A fever is only considered a medical emergency if it reaches 103F (39.4C) or higher.

Types of Fevers

Fever can also be classified into low grade, moderate grade, high grade, and hyperpyrexia.

   - Normal Body Temperature: 37-38 °C or 98.6-100.4 °F

   - Mild/Low-Grade Fever: 38.1-39 °C or 100.5-102.2 °F

   - Moderate Grade Fever: 39.1-40 °C or 102.2-104.0 °F

   - High-Grade Fever: 40.1-41.4 °C or 104.1-106.0 °F

   - Hyperpyrexia: Greater than 41.1 °C or Greater than 106.0 °F

There are many different ways to measure body temperature, including oral, rectal, ear (tympanic), forehead (temporal), and armpit (axillary). The most accurate way to measure body temperature is with a rectal thermometer, which is inserted into the rectum. However, this method is invasive and not always practical, so other methods are often used.

How to Avoid Getting a Fever

There are a few things you can do to help avoid getting a fever, such as:

- Wash your hands often, especially before eating or touching your face

- Avoid close contact with people who are sick

- Stay away from crowds and places where there is a lot of close contact

- Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough

- Disinfect surfaces that are often touched, such as door handles and countertops

If you do develop a fever, there are a few things you can do to help relieve symptoms, such as:

- Resting and drinking plenty of fluids

- Taking over-the-counter medication, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen

- Using a cool compress on your forehead or neck

- Avoiding hot showers or baths

- Drinking warm liquids, such as tea or soup

Using a humidifier to add moisture to the air

If your fever is accompanied by severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or severe abdominal pain, it is important to seek medical attention immediately. If you have a history of heart disease, lung disease, or other chronic medical conditions, you should also seek medical attention if you develop a fever.

Symptoms of a Fever

Fever is not a disease, but rather a symptom of an underlying condition. In most cases, a fever is a sign that the body is fighting off an infection, such as a cold or the flu.

Other than a high body temperature, other frequent fever symptoms include Chills, Sweating, Headache, Muscle aches, Loss of appetite, Fatigue, and Dehydration.

Measuring Body Temperature

A digital thermometer is recommended to measure body temperature. There are several ways to measure body temperature, and different methods may be more appropriate for different age groups.

For babies, the most common method is to use a rectal thermometer. This method is considered the most accurate for infants, as it measures the temperature of the internal organs, which is considered to be the core body temperature. To use a rectal thermometer, the tip should be lubricated with a small amount of water-based lubricant and gently inserted about 1/2 inch into the rectum. The thermometer should be held in place for about 1 minute to get an accurate reading.

For adults and older children, the most common methods are oral and axillary (under the arm) measurements. An oral thermometer should be placed under the tongue and held there for about 1 minute. An axillary measurement should be taken by placing the thermometer under the arm and holding it in place for about 5 minutes. Both of these methods are considered less accurate than rectal measurements, but they are less invasive and more comfortable for the person being measured.

For anyone, an infrared thermometer can be used to measure temperature non-invasively, by measuring the infrared energy emitted from the skin. These thermometers are commonly used in public places, such as airports, to screen for fever.

Core body temperature is the temperature of the internal organs, including the brain, heart, and lungs. A normal body temperature for adults typically ranges from 97-99 degrees Fahrenheit (36-37 degrees Celsius). For babies and children, the normal range is slightly higher, about 97.9-100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (36.6-38 degrees Celsius). A fever is generally considered to be a temperature above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius). If you are unsure about any of this, call your local health line for immediate help. Once you have your readings, read ahead to know what to do next.

I've seen an app like this before, but it had the same issue - too many loud ads popping up all the time. I work as a health and safety officer at a school, and I need to check everyone coming in. Using contactless infrared thermometers isn't always reliable. This app could be useful for me, but those ads are just too annoying. They keep popping up at the top and bottom - there's really no need for them to interrupt everything.

You know what? I'm really sick right now and I checked this app for my temperature. It says my temperature is 37°C, but that can't be right because I definitely have a fever. This app needs to get fixed or just get rid of it altogether. I'm not even going to give it a star because this is messing with people's health.

This app is great for keeping in touch with your friends and sending messages. You can also share your favorite people as friends. It's fun to write creatively and see the thought of the day.

I got this Body Temperature Thermometer app, right? But it's not good, man. It always gives me the wrong temperature, like way off. Also, using it is a pain because the design is so bad and hard to figure out. Sure, it has some cool stuff like tracking your temperature history, but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone because it's just not reliable.

All it does is track, it can't even take your temperature. Totally useless.

The name is misleading because it doesn't actually measure temperature, it's just a place to write it down. Notepads are more effective for this.
