User Guide

Creating an Account

While the platform you downloaded the app on (iOS, Android, etc.) handles app subscriptions, connecting your subscription to an email address is entirely up to you. However, we strongly recommend creating an account for a smoother experience.

If you elected not to create an account at checkout, you have two options to link an email address to your subscription.

1. Visit the Business Insider App > Tap the silhouette icon > Tap ‘Create an Account’ and enter your email address to create an account.

2. Visit the Business Insider App > Tap the silhouette icon > Tap ‘Login’ > Tap ‘Sign up’ and enter your email address to create an account.

Please note: If you have activated Apple's Hide My Email feature, your subscription may be created with an email address generated for privacy by Apple. To get all the details about how this works and learn how to manage it, feel free to check out our dedicated article on Hide My Email.

Light/dark mode: The app's display mode automatically follows your device's settings. If you've set your device to light mode, the app will be in light mode. I have noticed that whenever I click on the article sent through notification, a message pops up saying "Article is not available at this time. Please check your internet connectivity and try again." It would be really nice if you could take a look into this matter. Thank you so much.

I've been using Business Insider for around 5 years now, reading and watching their content from time to time. I really like their stories as they are some of the best and most relevant out there, which is why I rate them more than one star. However, their app for the latest version of Android Lollipop is just not up to the mark. The navigation is okay, but sadly, around half of the articles and videos I try to read or watch end up crashing the app. This, in my view, makes the app almost unusable. It's quite frustrating to get through a quarter of an article only for the app to crash on you. The hassle often outweighs the benefits of their great content. I'll keep checking back now and then in the hopes that they will improve the app to make it usable. My device is a Samsung S5 running the latest version of Lollipop, and I'm on Verizon network.
