How to Play

Canasta Online is a classic strategy card game, usually played by 4 players in two teams. The goal of the game is to score points by creating "Canastas" (combinations of at least 7 cards of the same rank), and the team that reaches 5000 points first wins.

Game Preparation

Use two standard decks of playing cards (including the Joker), a total of 108 cards. Each player is initially dealt 11 cards, the remaining cards form the "card pile", and the turned cards form the "discard pile".

Turn Process

Each round, players can choose to draw a card from the deck, or pick up the entire discard pile (subject to meeting certain conditions).

Players can create new combinations (at least 3 cards of the same rank) or add cards to existing combinations.

At the end of each round, players must discard a card.

Combinations and Canastas

Meld: at least 3 cards of the same rank, can contain up to 3 wildcards (2 and Joker).

Canasta: A combination of at least 7 cards of the same rank, divided into natural canasta (no wildcards, 500 points) and mixed canasta (with wildcards, 300 points).

Special cards

Red 3: Worth 100 points, must be played immediately.

Black 3: Used to freeze the discard pile to prevent opponents from taking it.

Ending the round

A team must complete at least one canasta before "playing" (ending the round).

Before playing a card, you need to get permission from your teammates, otherwise you may suffer losses due to the negative points of the remaining cards in your teammates' hands.

Scoring

Natural canasta: 500 points

Mixed canasta: 300 points

Red 3: 100 points each, four red 3s are awarded an additional 400 points

Playing a card: 100 points, hidden playing (playing all cards at once) is awarded an additional 200 points.

The best ways to use wild cards in Canasta

Distribute wild cards reasonably

Wild cards can replace any card to form a combination (Meld), but be careful when using them:

When forming a combination, the number of natural cards must be greater than or equal to the number of wild cards.

In a combination of 3 or 4 cards, you can use at most 1 wild card.

When forming a Canasta (a combination of 7 cards), you can use at most 2 wild cards.

Complete Canasta first

The value of wild cards is to help complete Canasta, especially Mixed Canasta (Canasta containing wild cards):

A Mixed Canasta can bring an additional bonus of 300 points.

If you have enough wild cards, you can try to form a Canasta composed entirely of wild cards, which can bring a high score of 2000 to 3000 points.
