Just make sure they're connected, launch the Camera Connect app, and you're ready to go:

1. Open the Camera Connect app and tap Remote live view shooting.

2. Your phone displays a live view from the Canon camera. Tap the large circle icon to take a picture.

This app is really good. It's easy to use and the transfer speed is faster than I thought. Canon did a good job. It would be even better if the video transfer speed was a bit faster.

Having issues with my 4000D. It connects occasionally, but then disconnects soon after, even though the camera's weak wifi signal is always battling against my home network. When linked to your phone, the camera's LCD screen shuts off. I couldn't check if you could switch back swiftly to just the camera, as it continued to disconnect. Managed to snap just one photo, which is disappointing considering how good this seemed.

It's annoying that the Canon "CONNECT" app doesn't connect smoothly to my camera. It always takes forever to fiddle with both devices just to get them to work together. Can you believe it's still a problem in 2021?
