Scan A Product

Make sure that you have an iPhone or Android phone with a data plan. (Currently, scanning is not available on iPads or iPod touches). While you are in a store you can easily and quickly earn rewards by tapping the "In-Store" tab at the bottom of the app. From here, you can check in to your current location to see all the products available there for scanning. By clicking on a product, you open the barcode scanner, which allows you to scan the product. 

Trouble Scanning

If you are having scanning issues, we have created a troubleshooting list to help you out.

1. Do you have a mobile phone? Scanning is currently not available on iPods.

2. Are you allowing all permissions to CheckPoints such as Locations and Notifications? (see here).

3. Do you have a good signal on your device that gives you internet access? Check to see if a web page opens up on your device’s browser to double-check.

4. Have you complied with proper scanning of products in the past? (scan-this-way)

    You liked this app before, but now there are some issues. When trying to scan receipts, it often says they’ve already been scanned. Also, you can’t scan items in the store because it keeps saying you’re not there even when you are. This doesn’t happen with other apps – only with this one.

    I used to love this app! It was amazing in the past. I had it for years and redeemed many gift cards. However, after downloading it on my new phone in the last year, it's become terrible! You could spend hours watching videos but only earn 2 points sometimes. There are never any surveys available, lots of items don't scan correctly even though they're right, and now it takes forever to earn points. I'm really disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite apps. I've decided to uninstall it.

    You know, back on December 18th, I cashed out. But you won't believe this, I still haven't seen my redemption yet. I tried reaching out to CheckPoints through the app, but every time I did that, I just got an error message. So, I thought, "alright, let me try something else." I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and gave it another go, but still... error message. Then, I decided to type the site into the search bar and hit that "contact us" tab, hoping that would work. But no luck, got another error message staring back at me. Feeling frustrated, I even tried to contact them using the email address from a previous email they sent me - you guessed it, error message again. You know what? I'm really upset about this situation. All I want is my money, you know?

    This app was once the top rewards app according to my rating. However, I must change my mind about it now. Before, when you cashed in your points, they would send it immediately. But now, they have joined the group of other rewards apps that don't keep their promises. I tried to redeem some of my points for a $100 gift card over a week ago, but I have yet to receive it despite sending many emails. All I get in return are automated responses. Therefore, until things change, I give this app 0 stars.

    The app isn't showing any places to scan, so you can't earn points. Stores sometimes don't appear in the list, and the app keeps saying to check your connection even though everything else is fine. I've tried clearing the cache, data, reinstalling the app, but nothing works. Even after the new update, these persistent bugs still haven't been fixed.
