Product Overview
Citrix Receiver is the client component of XenDesktop or XenApp.[1] Devices with Receiver installed are able to access full desktops via XenDesktop or individual applications via XenApp from a centralized host, such as a server or cloud infrastructure. Its primary users are employees.
Citrix Receiver is not a standalone product; it is included with XenApp and XenDesktop.
In reviews, Citrix Receiver has been noted positively for its reasonably fast loading time and flexibility in allowing remote desktop access from a variety of computer and mobile platforms. However, reviewers also criticized its iPhone version for difficulty they found when formatting text, typing prolonged texts, and indulging in tasks that normally require a keyboard and mouse. The iPad version experienced similar accessibility issues, and the performance of Flash applications was highly limited. To address this, Citrix developed a mouse for iOS devices.
Update from the Citrix Website:
As of August 2018, Citrix Workspace app has replaced Citrix Receiver. Citrix Workspace app is a new client from Citrix that works similar to Citrix Receiver and is fully backward-compatible with your organization’s Citrix infrastructure. Citrix Workspace app provides the full capabilities of Citrix Receiver, as well as new capabilities based on your organization’s Citrix deployment.
History
Prior to Receiver, Citrix had a different client for each of its products. The company developed Receiver to handle the management of those clients. Citrix Receiver was announced in 2009 and the first version became available later that year. Citrix Receiver won several mobility awards after its release, including a CRN Appy, and "Best of Interop" award for Wireless & Mobility in 2011, and a Global Mobile Award in 2012. As of August 2018, Citrix Workspace app has replaced Citrix Receiver.

• Operate on your preferred device from any location

Client Drive Mapping Virtual Channel:
Client drive mapping (CDM) facilitates the use of plug-and-play storage devices in a session. This allows you to utilize local appliance storage or mass storage devices (such as flash drives) to transfer documents between the session and the user device.
Location and Sensor Virtual Channel:
This channel permits Workspace to reroute sensor information to applications operating on the server. For example, apps can utilize accelerometer data for a 3D-modeling application, adjust screen brightness using ambient light levels, modify application behavior based on location, and more.
VpnService Functionality:
Gain access to internal resources online, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) apps, and corporate websites.
Support for Citrix Ready workspace hub:
The Citrix Ready workspace hub, constructed on the Raspberry Pi 3 framework, establishes a secure link to authorized apps and data. Citrix Workspace app for Android includes user authentication support for Citrix Ready workspace hubs as an experimental feature. Authenticated users can project their sessions to a hub. This function is inactive by default.
Note: Location permission is essential for the Citrix Ready workspace hub experimental feature. You can decline this authorization if workspace hubs are not available.
Accessibility Service:
Activate the Citrix accessibility service to ensure smooth operation of Citrix Workspace app sessions. No user data is collected. This service is employed to enable gesture and touch passthrough features in virtual sessions.
If your organization does not utilize Citrix yet, you can install the Citrix Workspace app and request a demo account by selecting “Try the demo” in Citrix Workspace app.
