How to verify my identity in the Curve app?

Curve is not a bank, but we’re still a financial institution. This means we need to follow certain regulations and know our customers, so we can confirm you are who you say you are. 

How does it work? 🤷

It’s pretty straightforward! If your account needs verification, you’ll see a “Begin Identity Verification” button in the “Account” applet of your Curve app - you can also track the progress of the verification here.

We’ll ask you to take two clear photos: of your valid government-issued ID and of your face. We won’t accept scans, photocopies or photos of screens showing the necessary documents – this way, we’ll know they belong to you. If you’re a European Economic Area (EEA) customer you’ll need to provide us with either an EEA Passport or a National Identity Card, as we won’t accept Driving Licenses. 

❗️Remember! Curve is only available to customers with valid European Economic Area (EEA) or British residency, so the documents you upload have to reflect your current residency status. 

How will I know my verification status? ✅

You can track the progress of the verification check directly in the “Account” applet. If everything goes well, you’ll see the “Verification Successful” button!

If we need you to retake your photos or if something goes wrong, you’ll be able to resubmit them directly from the level of the Curve app.

If your identity check was unsuccessful, you’ll see the ‘Verification Unsuccessful’ message. Please tap it to Contact Support and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Is this secure? 🔐

We use a system called Onfido which is a very safe and secure way of sending over your documents. 

We understand you may feel uncomfortable sending us a selfie and photos of your personal documents. We ask for these only to confirm your identity and we keep them safe with the rest of your personal information. No need to worry about morning hair or anything else as members of our Customer Support view them only once to make a decision about your account!
