"Decibel X" is a sound meter app that stands out on the market for its reliable, pre-calibrated measurements and support for frequency weightings including ITU-R 468, A, and C. It transforms your phone into a professional sound meter, allowing for precise measurement of sound pressure levels (SPL) in your surroundings. This handy and aesthetically pleasing tool not only serves as an essential gadget for various purposes but also adds fun to the user experience. Have you ever wondered about the quietness of your room or the loudness of a rock concert or sports event? "Decibel X" can provide the answers.

KEY FEATURES OF "DECIBEL X":

- Trusted accuracy: the app undergoes thorough testing and calibration to ensure compatibility with most devices while maintaining precision comparable to actual SPL devices.

- Frequency weighting filters available: ITU-R 468, A, B, C, Z.

- Spectrum analyzer: features FFT and BAR graphs for real-time display of FFT data useful for frequency analysis and musical tests. Real-time predominant frequency is also highlighted.

- Robust history data management:

+ Saved recording data can be accessed later for analysis and sharing.

+ Each record can be exported as a high-resolution PNG graph or CSV text via sharing services.

+ Fullscreen mode for a comprehensive overview of historical records.

- Dosimeter: adheres to NIOSH and OSHA standards.

- InstaDecibel feature enables capturing dB reports overlaid on photos for easy sharing on popular social networks like Facebook and Instagram.

- Elegant, intuitive UI design emphasizing user experience.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

- Time weightings (Response Time): SLOW (500 milliseconds), FAST (200 milliseconds), and IMPULSE (50 milliseconds).

- Calibration trimming range from -50 dB to 50 dB.

- Measurement range from 20 dBA up to 130 dBA.

- Spectrogram feature.

- HISTO graph displaying the plotted history of recorded values.

- WAVE graph with Rolling & Buffer display modes.

- Real-time scale level chart.

- Display of Current, Average/Leq, and Max values in digital and analog layouts.

- Quick reference text for comparing readings with real-life examples.

- Option to keep the device awake for extended recording sessions.

- Ability to reset or clear the current recording at any time.

- Pause/Resume functionality.

Characteristics of this game:

Simple Interface: Easy navigation with a toolbar at the bottom for accessing different sections.

Decibel Gauge: Displays real-time decibel levels, averages, and sound intensity graphics.

Sound Recording: Allows users to take photos or videos with sound measurements superimposed for later reference.

Predetermined Sounds: Includes a list of common sounds associated with various environments (e.g., street noise, quiet homes).

Functionality

Microphone Activation: Users can activate their device's microphone to measure ambient sound levels.

Noise Identification: Useful for identifying sound interference or reporting excessive noise from neighbors.

Usability

Offline Capability: The app functions without an internet connection, providing access to sound measurements anytime.

User-Friendly Design: Designed for ease of use, making it suitable for anyone needing to measure sound levels.

PLEASE NOTE:

- A reading of 0 dBA should not be expected in a quiet room. The standard usable range is typically between 30 dBA and 130 dBA, with an average quiet room measuring around 30 dBA.

- While most devices come pre-calibrated, custom calibration is recommended for critical applications demanding higher precision. Calibration requires a genuine external device or calibrated sound meter for reference, with adjustments made to the trimming value until it aligns with the reference reading.

The information given is not true. Despite having the ceiling fan on at speed 3 out of 5 producing over 80 decibels, there can't be any other noise in the house. Going to the bedroom with the window shut and the fan off still gives a reading of over 50 decibels, which is hard to believe since even the slightest sound, like a pin dropping, would be audible.

Just picture yourself as a sound meter like the one you can get from Radio Shack. It works great on the go!

The interface is really nice, but whoa...the price is high! I can't believe they want $34 a year for an app that you might not use often. I'd rather just pay once and be done with it. These days, everything seems to be asking for a monthly fee. I'll skip this one.
