Dictionary - Merriam-Webster - Word definitions & more

Oh man, those new ads are really bugging me now. I used to not really care about them before, but these ones that stay stuck on the screen and pop up at the worst times are just too annoying. I'm trying to focus on my school work, editing stuff, you know, and it's so frustrating having to deal with these constant interruptions. I keep having to close the app and start over just to get rid of them. Plus, they're showing up way more often than they used to. Looks like I need to find a different dictionary app.

So, I decided to check out some of the top dictionary apps by downloading them. After that, I made sure the wifi and data were switched off before opening each of them for the first time. This particular app impressively functions even without an internet connection – yes, even the games it offers can be played offline. It easily links you to words with similar or opposite meanings, and the best part is that you can use it without having to sign up for an account (*take notes, Oxford*). In my opinion, this app stands out way ahead of the others at the moment. However, I have to admit, the occasional ad popping up can be quite annoying.

I really like the new dark theme, but those new full-screen ads are just so annoying.

I really like this app and I've been using the ad-free premium version for a few years now. But recently, I noticed that ads started showing up again even though my subscription is still active. I'm definitely logged into my account. I tried reinstalling the app, but that didn't solve the issue. Even when I tap on "buy subscription," it tells me that I'm already subscribed, but the ads continue to appear. It's frustrating because I rely on this app daily for work. Whenever an ad suddenly pops up, I can't close it and end up having to restart the app. I hope they fix this problem soon, or else I might have to switch to a different app.

I received some assistance and I must say, this app is fantastic! But oh no, I'm having trouble getting the icon to load on my cellphone. Please help me out here! This app is simple to use and has been very helpful to me. I already have it on my tablet and now I need to install it on my phone. I consider myself a good speller, but as time passes, it's those small words that trip me up. Sometimes I can't recall the word I need to look up in the dictionary. So what I do is think of an opposite word, search for it in the thesaurus, and then hopefully find the word I was looking for – sometimes even discovering a better choice in the process. It's really great!

I can't even use this because of all the ads! Like, seriously, I can't get out of them, I can't skip them, I can't even see around them. And worst of all, I can't go back to check my word meaning. It's a dictionary, I mean come on! It's supposed to help with words, not bombard me with ads for Columbia University courses. I guess I'll have to hunt down a different dictionary app that won't crash on me and block me from checking definitions.

So, it's like this dictionary and thesaurus app could have been quite useful, but the user interface is just not great. Here's the annoying part - if you accidentally touch a linked word while scrolling, it quickly jumps to that word's info. And there are so many linked words that it happens all the time. And to add to the frustration, when you try to go back after clicking on a link, instead of returning to the previous word, it sends you right back to the main page of the app. It's pretty frustrating and honestly not worth bothering with.

My favorite app to use anytime and anywhere is a dictionary because I often come across words that I want to learn more about. It's great that this app can be used without an internet connection. But one thing that bothers me is that when I scroll through the page, it's too sensitive and sometimes redirects me to another word's page accidentally. That's quite inconvenient. Moreover, I wish they could place ads at less disruptive times. Just picture being deeply engrossed in reading, and then boom, a big burger ad pops up out of nowhere! 😅
