Free vs Premium

Drops offers free access to the app content and flexible Premium subscriptions on a monthly, yearly, or lifetime basis, providing unlimited access to mobile and web apps.

You can purchase a Premium subscription through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or directly online.

Please note that a lifetime Premium subscription requires a single payment for lifetime access, whereas yearly and monthly subscriptions involve recurring payments. Unless cancelled, these subscriptions will automatically renew and charge you at the renewal date.

Without a Premium subscription, your access is limited as follows:

    You can only play for 5 minutes every 10 hours.

    Topics must be unlocked one by one through gameplay.

Guide for Users

1. How can I restore my premium subscription on my original device or on a new device?

New Device

If you need to restore your premium subscription on a new device, please follow these steps:

    1. Log in to the original device with the same Apple / Google ID you made your purchase with.

    2. Download the Drops app.

    3. Log in to Drops with your account (Facebook/Google/Apple/Email login option).

    4. Tap on Restore purchase in the app’s Profile menu.

    5. Download the Drops app on the device you want to use.

    6. Log in to Drops with your account (Facebook, Google, or email login option).

Original Device

If you need help restoring your purchase on the same device you used to make your original purchase, please follow these steps:

    1. Make sure you are logged in to the same Drops app that you made your purchase in. (In addition to our main app, we have additional apps available for specific languages. If you’re not sure which version of the app you used to make your purchase, you can check your receipt. It will display the logo and name of the application you used to make your purchase)

    2. Log in on the original device with the same Apple ID or Google Play Store ID you used to make your purchase.

    3. Log out, then log back into Drops with the email, Facebook, or Google account you used in the app’s Profile menu. If you're on iOS, make sure you enter your Apple password correctly when prompted. This is an essential part of the login process - without it, we can not retrieve the purchases you have on your phone, and we can’t activate it.

    4. Tap on Restore purchase in the app’s Profile menu.

    If you need further assistance, please click on the widget (bottom left corner) or scroll down and click on "Submit a request". We will get back to you ASAP.

2. How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS (Apple)

    1. Open Settings on your iPhone.

    2. Tap your name.

    3. Tap Subscriptions.

    4. Select the Drops subscription.

    5. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Android (Google)

    1. Open the Google Play Store.

    2. Tap Menu > Account > Subscriptions.

    3. Select the Drops subscription.

    4. Tap Cancel Subscription.

3. Redeem a promo code

Congratulations on receiving a promo code! Welcome to your exciting language-learning journey with Drops!

To redeem your code, follow these steps:

    1. Visit our gift page.

    2. Sign up with your preferred login method, or log in if you already have an account.

    3. Enter your code in the provided box and click "Redeem."

    4. Next, download the app from your favourite app store or use our browser version. Log in with the credentials you just used, and start your Drops journey!

If you need further assistance, click on the widget in the bottom left corner or scroll down and select "Submit a request." We will get back to you as soon as possible.

4. Activate your Premium Subscription

If you’ve just purchased a Premium subscription; recently switched devices, or are unable to see the subscription in the app, please follow the instructions below:

    1. Log out of your current session

    2. Make sure you log into the same app you made your purchase in (check your receipt to see which logo and app are tied to your Premium account)

    3. Select the login option you used when you originally signed up (Apple ID, Google, Facebook, or email)

    4. Go to your profile, and settings, scroll down, and tap "restore purchase"

    You know, I'm testing out the free trial and using the on-screen hiragana feature is super helpful. It's something Duolingo was lacking for sure. I really hope they add the option to draw kanji too because it really helps with memory, in my view at least. I was thinking of practicing on paper, but if this feature stays, then wow. I'd give it a perfect score for helping with Japanese!

    This app is great for visual learners, especially for learning new words. However, the free version has short sessions which can make you feel rushed to complete as many exercises as you can. It would be nice if they allowed practice of previously learned content without a timer. Additionally, it's odd that the app doesn't begin with teaching the alphabet (if you don't already know it), but you can easily learn it on your own within the app.

    I just completed the first session and the extra second session that was free, and I must say this app is just what I needed. It has quick bursts of vocabulary practice in a beautiful interface. The yearly subscription cost of 40 dollars seems fair (although I'm not sure if it's a temporary price). The fact that you can only use the app for 5 minutes at a time makes it feel like a special treat, prompting me to focus more and absorb the information. It's a really useful tool to have handy.

    Isn't this app amazing? I've already picked up a lot of Japanese, and I've only had it for a few days! It's definitely the most awesome learning app I've ever tried. The only thing is that I only have five minutes each day, but it helps me go at a good speed, promising that I'll learn 10-15 words or characters in those 5 minutes. And even after my session ends, I can still look over the words/characters I've learned, so I can write them down, understand the pronunciation, and more.

    I love using Drops! I only started using it recently, but it has already taught me so much. The app explains the first few words clearly and slowly, which makes it easy to grasp. I have explored the content, and there is a wealth of information for learning Japanese and understanding Japanese culture.     The subscription is really expensive even with the almost always available 40% discount, but the free stuff is really great. There are a lot of different questions, cool animations, and the translations are very accurate. I genuinely want to help this app, but the cost is just way too much.

    Hey Drops Team! There's this problem where the app gets stuck at the last second of each session. It's super frustrating having to wait for 20 seconds every time I want to get back to learning. Also, it would be great if I could turn off the "5-in-a-row" feature as it distracts me. Everything else is fantastic though! Thanks a bunch for your dedication and effort.

    This app started off awesome. The design is neat and the way it shows the words really helps with remembering them. But as time went on, I stopped using it. Some of the words seemed a bit strange and I think they could choose more helpful vocabulary. I'd suggest it only if you want to grow an extensive vocabulary or practice memorizing kana.
