Setting up an online account with DTE Energy
By creating an online account, you can update contact information, view your current/previous bills, payment program eligibility and schedule recurring payments. You will need to provide the service address or account number and the form of identification you provided when the service account was created. When you identify yourself in the online account process, all accounts attached to you through positive identification (Social Security number, passport or state ID) will be associated with your username or email address. If you receive one DTE Energy bill for both your natural gas and electric service, you need to create only one online account. If you have both residential and business accounts, you will need to use a different email address and password for each account. To switch from one account to another, sign out of the current email address and sign in with the other one.
If you cannot remember the email address you used to create your online account, please contact a DTE Energy representative at (800) 477-4747. Open the app and select Payment. Then select Sign In and use the email address and password associated with your DTE online account.
Permissions
Why does the DTE Energy app require various permissions? We request these permissions to offer you the following valuable functionalities:
Your Accounts, Find Account on Device, Read Google Service Configuration, Sync Settings, and Read Sync Settings enable synchronization with Google Drive to save your addresses, simplifying the process of reporting outages. You can opt out of this feature later if you choose.
Your Location, Storage, and Test Access to Protected Storage assist in pinpointing your location on the outage map and activate Google Maps functionality. Your address is also stored on your device, allowing you quick access to saved locations within the app.
The Camera permission allows you to utilize your camera's flashlight during power outages; we do not access your images or the overall camera function and do not record any photos or videos.
Control Vibration and Prevent Device From Sleeping facilitate notifications delivery. While you have the option to later opt-out of this feature, initial permission to access the DTE Energy app is required.
