FAQ/Tips

1. I want more coins and luck!

The fastest way to get coins and luck is to unlock achievements in the game. Here are a bunch of ways to go about this:

Play rewarded videos. New ones should be available every day.

Play an unlocked volume/chapter that you haven't played yet. No matter what, finishing a book for the first time unlocks an achievement.

Get the highest rank at the end of the volume/chapter. This always unlocks an achievement. It may take many replays of a volume to finally get the highest rank.

There are tons of "one-off" achievements you can earn through normal game play. These are sprinkled everywhere throughout the dozens of books. Basically, if you play volumes and try different choices, you're going to run into these.

2. When will the next chapter come out?

It depends. :) The best way to keep up to date is to sends us an email with the title "Add me to the mailing list" in the subject to get on our mailing list. Send it to subscribe@delightgamesllc.com. Also, you can follow us on the social media of your choice. Finally, keep the game installed and watch for notifications. We will send a “push notification” to your phone when a new chapter is available.

That said, here’s a tentative schedule:

3. How do I make better choices?

There are consequences for all choices in Delight Games. The "right" choice depends on the situation AND the character you’re playing. Choices are designed to not be obvious, yet their consequences logical. You really have to think to survive to the end, not to mention to get a high score and rank. You can play a story over and over to try to beat your previous high score. 

The stories we produce are from a specific character's perspective, a character with a personality, a gender, a sexuality, etc. You don't play as “you”, you play as the character. For example, in Detective's Choice, you play the role of a 1930's jaded, hard-drinking detective who likes one-liners and being more-or-less a cad around women. If you try to play this character as a refined gentleman (perhaps because that is how you would act), your character will flub it and trip over his words. This is in contrast to a lot of interactive fiction in which you play a kind of generic person or you get to choose things like gender and sexuality. Delight Games commit the reader to role-playing fleshed-out characters rather than just swapping pronouns like "she" for "he" in the same story. You may play a self-conscious teenage girl with a crush on a boy in her biology class in one book and a wise-cracking male wizard who doesn't exercise enough in another.

4. How do I get past this one spot where I keep dying?

Every volume can be completed without help; however, there are times when you may have to start over to have your stats high enough to make it through a certain tough part. If you play RPG's you might know what I'm talking about where you go into the final showdown with the boss and you just don't have the life left to make it through.  Even going back to a checkpoint might not be enough. You may have to go back to the beginning. OK, another option is to spend some luck to boost your stats, but even that does not guarantee survival (see below). The bottom line is that you sometimes have to start over at the beginning. Sooner or later it happens to everyone. :)

If you really want to just get past a chapter and you don’t mind cheating, there are walkthroughs online for many volumes. Delight Games doesn’t make these, and it’s up to you to search for them online.

5. How do I move game progress, achievements, and upgrades to another device?

Open the game.

Tap the screen to show the main menu and go to the "Save/Load Online" like you did.

Select "Save everything online"

Type in your email address and press "Save progress online"

There will be some messages.

Now try to load it onto your new installation.
