Android: If activated, the robot will automatically start network configuration and connect to the mobile device. If the connection fails, you'll need to turn on your mobile device settings and manually select Wi-Fi. Please select the network starting with "ECOVACS", then return to the app and wait for the network setup to complete

More tips:

Make sure the home Wi-Fi connection is 2.4G or a 2.4/5G hybrid network.

Before the network configuration, ensure that the host is fully charged, if it is not satisfied, it can be placed on the charging base for charging, and the network configuration operation can be carried out during the charging process

The WiFi status light under the upper cover of the main unit is flashing (the position is located on the upper right of the machine's power switch)

Make sure the power switch is turned on before network configuration, and complete the start of the machine (there is a music prompt during the start-up process, and the start-up time is about 20s)

Before or during the network configuration, make sure to press the network configuration button, and hear the network configuration prompt sound (the button is located on the right side of the machine's power switch, small dot, press for 1 second)

Troubleshooting home Wi-Fi connection failures

    Wi-Fi network confirmation

1. Make sure the home Wi-Fi connection is 2.4G or a 2.4/5G hybrid network.

2. Temporarily turn off the 4G or 5G mobile data service of the mobile phone, ensure that the mobile phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network at home, and the network name and password are recommended to use a combination of English letters and numbers to increase security and avoid failures caused by different input methods of the mobile phone

3. VPN or proxy servers are not supported

4. Web authenticated networks are not supported

5. The machine currently supports the 802.11b/g/n2.4GIPv4 protocol, and can support 2.4G single-band network or 2.4G/5G hybrid network

6. If your router uses WEP encryption, change it to WPA2

7. The machine can support 1-11 channels (North America); Can also support 12-13 channels (please consult your local authority before use)

8. If your home WIFI router supports 2.4G and 5G dual bands, and supports "dual band preferred" or "dual band in one", please turn it on, at this time, the previous two hotspot names will be merged into one name, after connecting the phone to this hotspot, you can start to configure the network

9. If you are using a dual-band router at home and the router emits two different hotspot names, ignore the Wi-Fi hotspot signal in the 5G band in your phone and make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4G hotspot

10. The robot vacuum cleaner does not support routers with hidden hotspot names, and the Wi-Fi hotspot name must be visible and the mobile phone can recognize it in order to connect successfully

    The device configuration timed out

Error code: e.g(406,10017)

- Please make sure that your mobile phone has turned off your own mobile data, such as your phone's 4G network

- Make sure your phone is connected to the robot Wi-Fi

If you can't find the "ECOVACS_xxxx" robot Wi-Fi in the network, please restart the robot (please press and hold Reset until you hear the boot music) and the router, force close the app, and try again

Rest of the frequently asked questions

1. Download the latest version of "Ecovacs Home APP", and make sure that the "Data & Wi-Fi Permission" and "Location Permission" (including GPS\GPRS permission) of the APP are enabled in the phone settings.

2. Before configuring the network, please connect your mobile phone to your home Wi-Fi and turn off the 4G mobile data service of your mobile phone

3. IF YOU USE A DUAL-BAND ROUTER, YOU CAN SELECT "FORGET OR NOT SAVE" THE WI-FI HOTSPOT IN THE 5G BAND IN THE SETTINGS OF THE MOBILE PHONE (AFTER SUCCESSFUL NETWORK CONFIGURATION, THE MOBILE PHONE CAN RECONNECT TO THE HOTSPOT IN THE 5GHZ BAND IF NEEDED). If the dual-band router uses the same Wi-Fi name and password, or if dual-band integration or dual-band preference is enabled, you can directly configure the network, and the Wi-Fi password is recommended to be set to English or numbers

4. Open the APP, according to the APP prompts: add model - connect to home Wi-Fi - turn on - short press the "reset button" and hear the machine voice prompt "start to enter the network configuration mode", click Next, (if the name is recognized as "unknown ssid" in the steps of connecting to home Wi-Fi, you need to turn on the mobile phone location permission, including GPS\GPRS permission)

5. Connect to the robot Wi-Fi, hear "DEEBOT and mobile phone are connected, please return to the APP to wait for the configuration result", switch back to the APP, and wait for the configuration result

6. Some mobile phones do not have the "deconnect" step, and you can directly wait for the network configuration result in the APP

7. After some Android phones are connected to "ECOVACS-XXXX" wifi, the mobile phone screen pops up the "Check that the WLAN cannot access the Internet" dialog box, according to different mobile phone prompts, ensure that the mobile phone maintains the wireless connection with DEEBOT in the following situations: 1) Whether to switch to other networks, you need to select "Do not switch"; 2) Whether to allow switching to other better networks, you need to select "Allow"; 3) Whether to continue using the network, select "Use"

8. Wait for the network configuration result in the APP interface, when the progress exceeds 50%, check whether the current mobile phone connection network is the Wi-Fi network selected when DEEBOT is matched, if not, you must manually switch the network in the wireless LAN list, and return to the APP to wait for the network configuration result after switching

9. If anti-virus and wall-climbing software is installed on your phone, it is recommended to turn it off and reconfigure the network

10. If the reconfiguration fails, try to use another mobile phone to turn on the 4G mobile data sharing hotspot instead of the home router, and start the operation of the network configuration steps again. If the hotspot is successfully paired, it is recommended that you change the hotspot name and password to the home Wi-Fi name and password, turn off the mobile hotspot after successful network configuration, and automatically switch to the home router when you restart, and observe whether the Wi-Fi status LED is no longer flashing, if it is no longer flashing, it means that you are connected to the network

Oh, let me tell you about Evovacs and their app. The robots themselves are awesome, no doubt about that. But oh my goodness, the app is just a nightmare. It keeps trying to sell you things constantly. You have no control over the map settings at all. It even forgets your maps sometimes. And guess what? There's no way to save maps on your device. You can't designate specific areas or adjust room sizes freely. And forget about merging smaller rooms! To top it off, the app is so slow. And there's this annoying glitch where it won't update unless you close it and open it again. Plus, they're always asking for feedback, but they never seem to fix anything. And if you try to reach out to technical support, they treat you like you have no clue what you're talking about. I could keep going on, but I'm limited to 500 characters.

Mapping can be a challenge because it's hard to make changes or grasp how it works. You have the option to label and combine sections as well as set up obstacles, but once done, you can't modify them. You are left with no choice but to remove the whole map and start from scratch. Communicating via chat support or email inquiries is unhelpful since they just direct you back to a vague instruction manual. There is a lack of clarification on the purpose of app symbols or terms like "patrolling." The displayed Map 1 is entirely different from the saved version, causing confusion. The app would benefit from additional features and explanations.

I'm so disappointed that the app problems have made my DEEBOT OZMO 950 unusable. I've spent more than 10 hours trying to make it work, giving it chances, but it just keeps failing. First off, the map only saves if the whole area is cleaned in Auto mode and the robot returns to its dock successfully. If something prevents that from happening, you don't end up with a map. At first, I couldn't divide areas using my saved map. I spoke with the chat support team and they advised me to uninstall and reinstall the app, then map my house again. After spending another 2 hours and creating a new map, the same issue persisted. A few days later, after a firmware update, I suddenly could divide areas, but the user interface was very finicky. You can only draw straight lines to divide areas and those lines can't touch neighboring sections. This made it impossible for me to separate certain areas of my home. Once I managed to designate some areas, I tried to have the robot clean the room where the dock is located. However, after starting the cleaning process, the app CHANGED THE LOCATION OF THE DOCK on the map to a different room, near a piano—where obviously the dock can't be placed. This strange glitch completely messed up my map. I decided to give it one more chance by deleting the map and running it again. But when I tried to save the map, instead of saving it, it cleared the whole thing! That was another 2 hours wasted. The map still showed on the main screen, but there was no way for me to save it. Additionally, I noticed that the mapping was inaccurate, showing some walls as curved or at odd angles when my house is actually a rectangle. Certain areas that were behind walls, such as inside the stairs or a pantry, were incorrectly mapped as open spaces. At the end of the cleaning cycle, the DEEBOT kept attempting to return to these phantom areas to clean them. In conclusion, the mapping system is unreliable, the interface is tricky, and saving doesn't work properly. I really wanted to enjoy using this device, but unfortunately, it's just not usable for me.

I love this vacuum! It transitions smoothly from hardwood to rugs and charges quickly. I schedule mine three times a day and it always does an amazing job. Some folks might need to scan the code or read the instructions for set up. This device is a straightforward robot vacuum that excels at cleaning up. Remember, it's not a smartphone!

The mapping function is not working well. Every time it runs, it gets lost and the map in the app ends up looking messy with multiple layers making it hard to read. The app only really works for starting and stopping the vacuum and adjusting settings. It's disappointing that a good robot vacuum is hindered by a badly designed app.

My robot vacuum keeps going offline even though the WiFi is working fine. It won't do its scheduled cleanings properly. When I start it manually, it only cleans one room before heading back to its charging station. And when it's mopping, it doesn't release any cleaning solution while the pads are moving. I want to return it, but it's been more than 30 days since I bought it. I've followed all their troubleshooting tips, but nothing seems to fix the issues. This vacuum cost me over $1200, and I'm feeling frustrated with the whole situation.

I dislike this app and ecovacs. I won't buy it again. It always disconnects from the robot, so I can't use it. The map keeps resetting and needs to be remapped every time. All the rooms that were created before are now gone. To remap, the robot has to clean the whole house without stopping and return to the charger just to save the map. There is no option to only map without cleaning. A quick remap could be done in 10 minutes, but the developers make you do a full clean. Stupid.

I tried using this vacuum for the first time and it was going well, mapping out my whole house. But then, right before it finished, it randomly decided to head back to the charging station even though it still had more than half its battery left. After that, it got stuck in a cycle of trying to fix the map and recharge itself continuously... for hours. I had to reset the robot and reinstall the app, which caused me to lose all the mapping data. Overall, not the greatest first experience with such a pricey device.

I feel like the mapping function is not great. It struggles when it needs to charge during mapping and adding sections to a map is difficult. Mapping takes a while because it tries to clean at the same time. Even if it's on silent mode without suction, you would expect it to focus on mapping for efficiency. The app didn't update for daylight saving time change.
