What do I do if the power goes out?

When there is a power outage, I suggest you check if the fault is of internal or external origin. In the event that the fault is of external origin or there are other neighbors without power, please click on the option below. If you don't know if the fault is of external or internal origin? Do the following test: turn off the main electricity switch in your home, then go to the meter and on the acrylic cover (without opening it) move the colored plastic knob to activate the thermal switch. Then lift the thermal switch on your panel. If the power is cut off there again, contact an electrician since it is an internal problem.

Smart consumption

Lamps

Turn off lights that you are not using.

Take advantage of sunlight: open blinds or curtains during the day, avoiding turning on lights that are near windows.

Keep lamps clean, this way the brightness will increase. A dirty lamp can lose up to 50% of its brightness.

Adjust the lighting to the needs of each room and give preference to focused lighting instead of illuminating the entire room.

Paint the walls and ceiling in light colors, this way you will take better advantage of natural lighting and reduce the need for artificial lighting.

Use LED lamps, especially in places where you need lighting for a long time. This type of lamp significantly reduces energy consumption.

LED lamps last 7 times longer than halogen lamps and consume 8 times less energy.

Fluorescent and halogen lamps have a mandatory energy efficiency label. When buying new lamps, pay attention to their labeling: those with class A or higher allow for greater energy savings.

Do not use fluorescent lamps in environments where many switches are turned on and off in a short time, such as bathrooms. For these cases, use halogen or LED lamps.

Use outdoor lights equipped with timers that allow them to be turned off during the day.

Do not turn on the lights unless strictly necessary. In the garage or on the sidewalk, it is advisable to use motion sensors that activate the lighting.

Refrigerator

The refrigerator is one of the appliances that consumes the most, since its use is constant. It can represent up to 30% of your home's energy consumption.

Do not put hot food in the refrigerator, since this consumes more energy to cool it.

Open the refrigerator only when necessary. Every time you open it, cold is lost and to recover it, an extra energy expense is generated. Door openings represent between 5% and 10% of the total consumption of the refrigerator.

Adjust the refrigerator thermostat so that it does not cool too much. Each degree that the temperature is reduced increases the consumption of the appliance by 5%.

Clean the back of the appliance at least once a year.

Check that the door seals are in good condition. If they are broken, it is advisable to replace them to avoid cold loss.

Leave about 15 cm of space between the back of the refrigerator, the wall and the sides, to facilitate ventilation and increase performance.

The electrical consumption of the refrigerator is very sensitive to the temperature of the environment that surrounds it. Therefore, it is advisable to place it in a cool and ventilated place, away from possible sources of heat such as the oven or direct sunlight.

Defrost the refrigerator regularly, since ice and frost act as insulators and hinder cooling. There are no-frost models that prevent the formation of ice and frost inside the refrigerator and reduce energy consumption for cooling.

Some additional devices such as ice makers and water dispensers increase energy consumption.

The refrigerator has a mandatory energy efficiency label. When buying a refrigerator, take into account its label: class A or higher allows energy savings of up to 50%.

If you are about to buy a refrigerator, it is advisable to buy a unit of the size that best suits your needs.

It's frustrating when the app just doesn't work right. You try to check what you owe, but you can't even see your bill. And then when you try to sign in, nothing happens. It's like it's just getting more and more problematic.
