Enel Colombia - Open power for a brighter future
Enel Colombia invites the community to discuss the environmental management plan and the maintenance to be carried out at the El Guavio plant.
In 2025, within the framework of the El Guavio Hydroelectric Plant's Environmental Management Plan, Enel Colombia will perform maintenance at the plant, with the goal of continuing to ensure its optimal operation and contribution to the National Interconnected System.
The Environmental Management Plan awareness meetings will be held in Ubalá, Gachalá, Gama, Gachetá, and Junín, areas of influence of the plant.
Cundinamarca, April 3, 2025 – In order to facilitate spaces for citizen participation with the community and other stakeholders in Ubalá, Gachalá, Gama, Gachetá, and Junín, within the framework of the Guavio Hydroelectric Plant's Environmental Management Plan, Enel Colombia will soon hold meetings to discuss the maintenance work to be carried out at the plant this year. These meetings will provide detailed information on the plan and address any concerns that may arise from the community and authorities of the municipalities in the area of influence.
It is worth noting that the El Guavio Hydroelectric Plant has an installed capacity of 1,260 MW and generates an average of 7% of Colombia's energy annually. Aware of the significant contribution this plant makes to the Colombian electricity system, and based on innovative and cutting-edge technology, the Company's objective is to update and perform preventive maintenance on the equipment to ensure optimal plant operation.
The maintenance scheduled for 2025 includes, among other activities, electromechanical work on the cooling systems, ball valves, and turbine equipment; replacement of the generating unit impellers; maintenance of the current intake, through the installation of a protective screen over the existing grate; and other recurring interventions.
