FAQ

The prices are not up to date, why?

The prices displayed in the application are reported by the various distributors (source available in Open data). If these do not match what you see, it is because the distributor has not yet updated its prices or that they have not changed recently.

Is there really an interest in comparing fuel prices?

It is interesting for motorists to be able to compare fuel prices, as they can vary significantly from one station to another. If only a few cents per litre differentiate between two prices, the volume of a 50-litre fill-up, multiplied by the number of fill-ups per year, is significant. In addition, Essence&CO informs you if the fuel is unavailable (shortage, closure of the station,...).

I can't find a gas station. Is this normal?

Only stations delivering more than 500 m3 of fuel per year are required to declare the prices and availability of fuel to the government (Decree of 12 December 2006 on consumer information on the selling prices of fuel). Your search is based on this information declared by the brands, i.e. more than 80% of the service stations counted in France.

How do I search for fuel prices at petrol stations around me?

On mon-essence.fr, you can use the search bar and search by city or zip code. mon-essence.fr shows you the cheapest results and shows you the distance to the city center you are looking for.

How do I download the app?

The ESSENCE&CO app is available free of charge on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. Own a Windows or Blackberry phone? Use our website!

My bank account has been debited for an amount greater than the amount I filled up, what should I do?

This is a pre-authorization from the Automatic Fuel Dispenser (ACD). A pre-payment system used by petrol stations 24 hours a day. You will be reimbursed for this direct debit in the coming days.
