The Rail Planner App ensures a smooth and stress-free Eurail or Interrail journey, whether you are at the train station or planning your next adventure from home.

Here’s a detailed guide on how to use the app effectively.

1. Downloading the App

Availability: The Eurail/Interrail Rail Planner app is available for both Android and iOS devices. You can download it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

2. Setting Up Your Pass

Add Your Pass: Once you’ve downloaded the app, add your Eurail or Interrail pass to the app. This allows you to access all relevant features and benefits associated with your pass.

Create a Trip: Start by creating a new trip within the app. This will help you organize your journeys and keep track of your itinerary.

3. Planning Your Journey

Using the Journey Planner: Navigate to the “Planner” section to search for train connections between two destinations. Enter your departure and arrival cities to find available trains, including travel times and connections. The app works offline, so you can access previously downloaded schedules without needing an internet connection.

Save Your Journeys: Once you find a suitable connection, save it to your trip by tapping on “Save to My Trip.” This feature allows you to easily access your planned journeys later.

4. Checking Train Schedules

Access Timetables: The app provides up-to-date train schedules, allowing you to check arrival and departure times at various stations.

Real-Time Updates: When online, you can view real-time information such as delays, cancellations, and platform changes for certain railways included in your pass.

5. Managing Reservations

Book Seat Reservations: For trains that require reservations (like high-speed or international trains), you can book these directly through the app. This ensures you have a guaranteed seat on busy routes.

Mobile Pass Features: Use the mobile pass feature to go paperless. Show your ticket directly from the app during ticket inspections for convenience.

6. Utilizing Additional Features

City Maps: Access city maps for major European cities within the app, which can help you navigate local transport and find attractions.

Nearby Stations: Use the “Nearby” feature to locate the closest train stations using your device’s GPS.

Country Facts: Learn about accommodations, food options, and tourism information relevant to each country you’re visiting.

7. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Offline Functionality: While most features work offline, ensure that you download necessary timetables in advance since they are updated monthly.

Update Regularly: Keep your app updated to access new features and improvements, including real-time timetable data for major carriers.

8. Tips for Effective Use

Plan Ahead: Make use of the planner feature before traveling to avoid last-minute stress.

Check Station Boards: Always verify departure times on station boards as they provide real-time updates that may not be reflected in the app.

Explore Pass Benefits: Check for discounts on accommodations, attractions, and transportation that come with your Eurail or Interrail pass.

Features of the app include:

- Search for train times offline using the journey planner

- Plan and track all your journeys in My Trip

My recent experience was really bad! The app is not easy to use. When you search, you must type the exact words, so if you're not fluent in German it can be tough without a map in front of you. Customer service is not helpful. There are no physical offices or phone numbers, only email support. And when you reach out, different people respond, and they keep changing how they will solve your problem. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

Yes, I had a great experience using this app for planning trips and staying informed. My phone broke, so I needed to transfer my pass to a new device. The process was swift. After returning from a 10-week journey, the app proved invaluable in helping me map out routes and connections. The more I explored it, the more features I discovered. While some countries charge reservation fees for fast trains, the app provides tips on how to dodge them.

The app is good at functioning, but the design could be better. When I try to add a journey to a trip, it's not ideal that I have to check a box to create a train ticket and then search for it elsewhere. It's just too complicated. A simpler solution would be to have a button to add a ticket for each journey in the 'My Trip' section. Also, it would be helpful to include a feature to search for train numbers like the one in the old SNCF app. Another suggestion is to enhance the app's offline capabilities.

I'm feeling so frustrated! We had our train reservation canceled out of the blue. After spending all day trying to reach our destination, we had to fork out money for reserved seats once more. On top of that, we were hit with a late arrival fee! Our vacation plans got ruined, and I am definitely not happy about it!

You absolutely need this app if you're traveling without internet. It displays schedules even when you're offline, which is a big advantage, and it covers almost all European countries. Whenever I need to find train connections in Europe, this is the go-to app for me. Even if you don't have a Eurail or Interrail pass, it's worth downloading just to check station connections. I used it smoothly during my trips through Italy, Switzerland, and Austria without any problems.

I really like how this system operates. But today, I tried booking a train ticket using a third-party service recommended by the app. However, I haven't received any response from them regarding the reservation I paid for via email. As I'm still new to all of this, I'm not sure how long I should wait before hearing back. If everything turns out fine, I look forward to making more reservations using this app.

Hey there! This app is just awesome, right? It's so user-friendly and convenient having everything you need in one spot. One cool feature that would make it even better is getting notifications whenever there are delays or cancellations with the trains. It's happened a couple of times lately where my train got canceled and I had no clue until I was already at the station. How great would it be to have a heads up on that, you know?

This app is not helpful at all. The information it presents is completely wrong. This caused so much trouble during my trip. It took me 8 hours and six train changes to get from Brussels to Amsterdam while the app showed only one change. Today, I booked a train from Amsterdam to Frankfurt that was supposed to be direct but turns out I need to make two changes. The arrival times are unpredictable as well. Moreover, the app's interface and user experience are very confusing and unclear.

This rail planning app is absolutely fantastic! Being able to see and plan trips without needing the internet is a huge help. It's important to keep this feature because not everyone has data. I rely on this app to plan my trips both locally and when I'm traveling through Europe. Anyone who rates this app with just one star must be lacking some brain power... Keep doing what you're doing, it's great!
