FAQ

How do I add a chapter to my fanfic?

Under the Publish tab select Manage Stories. Select the fanfic you wish to update and click Content/Chapters. In the Add New Chapter to end of Story box select the document from the document manager and title it if you chose (default is Chapter the number), then click Add Chapter.

Note: Do not add new chapters as new stories, this is against FFN's rules.

The Document Manager is full, what do I do?

Delete some of them. It won't delete any of your stories--those documents are only there so that you can publish them on the site. Once they've been published for people to see, they're essentially useless unless you would like to make changes, which will be touched upon next.

I want to update my chapter to a newer version. How do I do this?

First, make sure the updated version is in the Document Manager. Go to the Publish tab and click on Manage Stories. Pick the story and go to Content/Chapters. At the very bottom there should be a box called Replace/Update Chapter with new Content. Pick the chapter number and the document and click Replace Chapter on the right hand side. Voila, your chapter has updated, and it will show up on the site within the next few hours.

I know how to upload my fanfiction, but I can't!

This is a tough question to answer generally, since it depends on a number of things. If you're getting an error, be patient and/or email support about it. It'll get fixed eventually. If not, read through this thread to see if someone else asked about it or check this forum for a thread about it. If there isn't one, feel free to post a reply in this thread detailing your problem and what you're seeing or create a new thread about it.

My story isn't showing up in the archive! Help!

How long ago did you upload it? It can take several hours for it to show up. Also, check your filter settings. FFN automatically filters out stories with a rating of M, so unless you change that none of those stories will show up. If it isn't rated M and it's not showing up, sometimes changing your filter settings in other ways will let it show up. Otherwise, it's a random error that affects everyone at some point--it doesn't mean your story is gone. If it's still on your profile, it's there. If it's still on the site and you've checked your traffic and its not gotten any hits in a long amount of time (I'd say a few days), email support; if it has hits, well obviously other people can see it even if you can't.
