FAQ's about GameLock

1. How does it work?

When you have a game you’d like to “Lock”, choose the “GameLock” icon that appears on both the game page and the Q. You do not have to remove other games from your Q, or worry someone else might get a copy and you miss out. Make sure you have the game "Locked" into your GameLock by the 30 day cutoff and that you return 1 of your games so that you have an open slot. This allows you to keep enjoying GameFly, while still guaranteeing that major game.

2. When should I put my return in the mail?

We recommend you put your return in the mail 2 to 7 days prior to release of the GameLock game. This ensures you have an open slot upon release.

3. What games can I add to GameLock?

Most future release games will be available for GameLock If a game is available for GameLock, we'll display a button when you add it to your Q or on the Q page itself next to the game. You won’t be able to add any game to GameLock regardless of plan after the game approaches 7 days before its release.

4. Does this mean my non-GameLocked games will suffer poor fulfillment?

Absolutely not. In fact, one of the major advantages to GameLock is it gives us a better picture of what our members’ rental intentions are, which allows us to fulfill standard Q titles with greater accuracy.

5. What happens if I didn't get to GameLock I want before the 30 day cutoff?

You can still keep that game at the top of your Q, and we will try to fulfill your request for the game when it releases, but we cannot guarantee you'll get the game if it's not in your GameLock. However, you can upgrade to the Elite Plan (subject to a pro-rated upgrade fee at time of upgrade) and add it to your GameLock up to 1 week before release.

6. Why a 30 day window?

Like any retailer, we have a cutoff window, with which to order copies. This is our order cutoff window. We will absolutely be reviewing this timeframe, and if we find it can be improved, we will do so. Our goal is to get as close to real-time fulfillment as possible for you.

7. What if I'm on a Movies Plan or a Budget Plan?

Only the Standard (All-Access) Game Plans and the Elite Game Plans currently qualify for GameLock. You'll need to upgrade your plan (subject to a pro-rated upgrade fee at time of upgrade) if you wish to take advantage of this special feature.

They said it would take 3-5 days for delivery but it actually took 7-10 days. One game got lost in the mail on its way back to them and it took almost 3 weeks for them to fix it. I had to wait another 7 days as per their instructions before reporting the lost game. I feel like I wasted a whole month's subscription just waiting. Great idea, just too slow.

The app is good, but subscribing to Gamefly might not be worth it. It takes too long to receive games - sometimes up to 10 days. I got 3 unreadable discs in a row, leaving me without a game for nearly 20 days. The support team apologized, but the discs had visible scratches. Gamefly doesn't check the games before sending them out. My experience with Gamefly was terrible. It's not worth it if you care about your money, time, or entertainment.

Dealing with this app is really tough. Every time I tap on something and move to a different page or search for something, everything just stops working for a few seconds. I can't even scroll until it finishes loading. And sometimes it freezes so badly that it crashes completely. The mobile website isn't any better either.

There are so many options for games to choose from on their site/app. Orders arrive quickly, making it a great place to get games.

The idea is good, but they didn't do it well. The discs often don't work because no one bothered to clean them before sending them out. It's frustrating when something is supposed to be available but turns out to be out of stock. I'd rather pick something with medium availability than high sometimes. It's hard to know what you'll actually receive.

Service is great for those who play games a lot. The app itself is not very good though. Most of the games are not easy to find unless you search for them specifically. You can only see a small portion of the game library in the app. It's better to use the website until they fix this issue.

Gamefly is really great! It's best to choose the two or three game option so you always have a game to play while waiting for the next one. They often have new releases available, making it easy to rent them as soon as they come out.

The service is great, but the app is definitely the worst I've ever used. It's slow, freezes all the time, and the interface is not user-friendly. It almost makes me want to cancel my subscription, especially because the website is just as bad or even worse on some days. It can take me more than an hour just to find and add one game to my list or rearrange it. This has been going on for over a year now. And since the last time I used the service, nothing has changed. I'm using a top-notch device for crying out loud. Please, fix this issue!

I've been using GameFly for a long time. Lately, the mail has been slow, so I had to wait longer for games. I usually cancel my membership every year, but this time I didn't receive any notification when it expired. After two weeks, I got an email asking me to return the games, which I did. However, three weeks later, I was charged full price for a game without any communication. Their customer service is not very good, and the app often freezes and has bugs.
