The app utilizes the GPS function on a mobile phone to allow for location sharing in two ways:

1.Through a web-based map for a specified period with non-Glympse app users chosen by the sender.

2.Within the Glympse app for a specified period with fellow Glympse app users.

Sharing one's location with others is known as "sending a Glympse." Recipients receive a Glympse link via text message, which when clicked, allows them to view the sender's real-time location on a map using any web-enabled device for the duration specified by the sender.

Users can send a Glympse to inform friends of their whereabouts, request a Glympse from someone running late, create Glympse Tags for various group activities or events without requiring recipients to sign up or have the app installed.

Since 2008, Glympse has been at the forefront of location-sharing solutions, fostering communication among individuals when it matters most, with a minimal data retention policy and a commitment to not retaining, harvesting, or selling user data.

It should be noted that the accuracy of the browser map viewer for non-app users may be limited in regions like Japan, China, and South Korea due to mapping data restrictions and regional limitations. This limitation does not affect in-app users.
