How do I set up Strokes Gained?

Auto Strokes Gained is our new Pro feature which leverages your tracked shots in order to provide you with detailed statistics for improvement. 

**For the best and most efficient experience we recommend using Auto Shot Tracking and your Wear OS device to capture data for these statistics! But dont worry, if you dont have a watch you can also track the below information manually on your Android Phone!

To capture Strokes gained data you must have each shot tracked and enter a few data points as follows:

1. Shot Tracking

Go to Settings > Wearables > Turn on Auto Shot Tracking. 

You can also track shots manually on your phone or watch. Each shot from your round must be tracked in order for the system to calculate your Strokes Gained. 

2. Start a Round with AST turned on and your Wear OS watch!

    Or start a round on your Android phone.

3. Pin Location

Make sure to 'Set the Pin' on every hole from your phone, or by tapping on the 'Set Pin' button on the Wear OS while you are on the Green.

4. Putt Distances

On the Phone or Wear OS Score Screen, swipe left to enter the distances of your Putts.

5. Review Tracked Shots

After your round, review your Tracked Shots to fix any errors, then mark the round as 'Reviewed for Strokes Gained'. 

After playing a round with these steps your Strokes Gained stats should now be shown under the Statistics section of the app!

What is SwingML?

SwingML is the proprietary Machine Learning Model that Golfshot leverages to automatically Track Shots. This Machine Learning Model is downloaded to your devices after you install Golfshot and enable Auto Shot Tracking in settings.

SwingML is a large data set, and is constantly evolving as we continue to optimize performance. Because of the size and constant optimization, it is downloaded to your device when you enable this setting and start a round of golf. 

SwingML should download to your device and transfer to the watch within a few minutes. Progress indicators on the Wearables Settings Screen and your watch should indicate when SwingML is being downloaded, while it’s transferring to the watch, and when it’s ready to use. Go to our troubleshooting here. 

You will know that Auto Shot Tracking is ready to use when you see a small Club icon on the bottom left corner of the watch screen; an Auto Label will also appear on the phone Shot Tracking button when the model is ready to start tracking your shots. 

**Auto Shot Tracking is only compatible with Wear OS devices.
