Google Play Books - Book reading & purchasing

I've been using Play Books for some time now and I absolutely love it. I would give it 4 stars because it doesn't offer the option of background music while reading. Actually, no reading apps seem to have this feature. However, it would be fantastic to have some background music playing while I read. It would enhance the reading experience, especially if the music could match the content of what I'm reading.

I really like this app because it's awesome in every way! The only thing that bugs me a bit is that I wish there was a feature to stop automatic downloads when I add something to my library. Sometimes, I grab a bunch of free books at once and I don't plan on reading them right away, so I have to manually go and delete them later, which takes up time. If there is a setting for this, I couldn't find it. It would be super cool if you could add an option like this. I'm pretty sure many others, like me, would find it useful too.

The way it reads out loud is kind of bad, not very good. And there's no punctuation marks like exclamation points or question marks. Sometimes words get mixed up, like saying "dove (the bird) to the floor" instead of just "dived to the floor." I guess that's normal. I have no idea how "Whack-A-Mole" turned into "Whack-AminusMole," though, haha. But what I really want is a mode where the screen always stays on when it's reading out loud. I like to read along sometimes, but my phone's screen goes off quickly because of the timer, even though I have it set for longer than that.

It seems like whenever there's an update, the loading time becomes incredibly slow, and I find myself having to uninstall and then reinstall the app to get it working properly again. Additionally, you have to use the web version to upload epubs because the app doesn't display the book as it uploads. This can be quite frustrating since you're left unsure if there's an issue with the file or if it's simply taking a long time to process. Despite these challenges, the app used to be an excellent reader.

I love the display and interface of this e-reader. It's so nice and easy to read, with lots of fonts and sizes to choose from. I can even highlight text and make comments or annotations that get saved right in Google Drive. There are great deals on many books, plus I can upload and read ones I've bought from other sites as long as they're in epub format. Some books even have free samples, so you can check them out before deciding whether to buy. Overall, I highly recommend it for reading. 👍🏽 It's just fantastic!

In my opinion, Google Play Books is pretty good, but it doesn't quite match up to the Kindle app in one key aspect. You see, when you search for a word in an e-book on Kindle, the definition pops up without disrupting your reading experience. Plus, if you want more details from the dictionary, it's really easy to smoothly go back to your book. However, with Play Books, searching for a word immediately takes you out of the book, and returning to where you left off isn't as seamless.
