How to add tasks to Google Tasks

With Google Tasks open in the side panel, click Add a task.

Google Tasks

Give your task a title, add any relevant details, and set a due date. You can even click the Repeat icon if it's a task you need to do on a regular basis. Then hit Enter.

If you set a due date, the task will also populate in your Google Calendar, which is helpful if you, like me, benefit from a few reminders to complete a task.

Google Tasks

If the task doesn't appear in your calendar, go to the My calendars section in the left panel of Google Calendar, and click Tasks.

Tip: Not all tasks are created equal. Find out which tasks are better suited for your calendar—not your to-do list.

Need to edit a task? Simply click on the task in the side panel and begin editing. Or, click on the task in Google Calendar, and then click the Edit task icon, which looks like a pencil.

Once you're done revising, click Save.

I really like that I can pick which days to have certain tasks repeat during the week. But, sometimes when the task reminds me, I don't hear a sound or feel it vibrate. There have been times when I've missed two task reminders because my phone was on silent mode. Additionally, I wish I could set the duration of the repeating task as well.

I'm a huge fan of this app, it's honestly the best one I've come across. It's so straightforward, neat, and user-friendly. One suggestion to make it even better would be if subtasks could have a small arrow next to them to turn into a drop-down list, like when completed tasks are hidden. This feature would make the interface look cleaner and help with productivity because long lists wouldn't feel as overwhelming. Google, you're doing an awesome job, keep it up!

Having to-do lists is fantastic. It becomes even more convenient when you can categorize them and access them easily from your desktop or mobile device. You can also schedule your tasks into your calendar to effectively plan out your days, weeks, months, and even years, including recurring tasks. Concerned about losing your lists? You can export them to Google Sheets for downloading or printing. Now, my pocket notebook serves its original purpose as a place for taking notes, without the clutter of lost lists. (Google Docs works great for note-taking too) =]

It sounds like you're frustrated with the latest Google release. You don't understand why it was created, and features like Keep and Reminders seem lackluster to you. Adding images and attachments to tasks isn't possible, and even links don't automatically hyperlink. It seems like a confusing mix of apps from Google. You feel like they need to improve and sort everything out. You're particularly disappointed that it took years for Google to add tasks to the "share to" sheet. And even now, you still can't share images or other items directly into tasks, making it utterly useless in your opinion. The lack of search function is another problem you've noticed.
