GridSwan is the most popular Android application for solving logic puzzles, also known as griddlers, hanjie, nonogram, picross, kare karalamaca, Japanese crossword, cryptopics, or pic-a-pix. The objective of griddlers is to determine the positions of black or colored blocks by using number hints in the white grid. The end result of solving the puzzle is an image. GridSwan offers support for four types of griddlers puzzles: standard (black & white), colored, triangle, and multi griddlers, and features numerous free puzzles.

Solving Puzzles: Step-by-Step Strategy

1. Analyze Clues

Start by examining the clues for each row and column. Identify rows or columns with larger numbers since they can often be filled in first.

Look for rows or columns that have a clue that matches the total number of cells available; these can often be fully filled immediately.

2. Fill in Certain Cells

Use the overlap technique: If a row has a clue of "5" in a 10-cell row, you can fill in the middle cells since they must overlap.

Mark cells that cannot be filled with an "X" to keep track of empty spaces.

3. Use Process of Elimination

As you fill in certain cells, revisit other rows and columns to see if new information allows you to fill more cells.

If a clue cannot fit into a certain space due to already filled or marked cells, mark those spaces as empty.

4. Keep Track of Progress

Use the app's features to undo and redo actions as needed. This is particularly useful if you make mistakes or want to try different strategies.

Regularly check your progress and adjust your strategy based on newly filled cells.
