GroupMe - Chat & share messages

Syncing and notifications, a bit iffy. But it's cool for group chats. I prefer them separate from my texts. It's nice how you can message across different platforms like a chat app or iMessage. Only thing is, sometimes the "Likes" don't update when I check notifications. Finding specific chats isn't that easy. And Android Auto support would be handy.

For a while everything was working fine, but recently I've had issues with receiving notifications from certain groups sporadically. Even though I have notifications enabled, sometimes I don't get them. When I check the group list, I can see the latest message, but upon opening the chat, it doesn't display the most recent messages and there's a scrolling blue line at the top as if it's attempting to refresh but fails to do so. To fix this, I've had to uninstall and reinstall the app multiple times, and many people I've talked to have also had to resort to this solution.

I really liked this app before because it kept me updated, but now I'm not receiving any notifications at all. I've tried everything like checking my phone and reinstalling the app, but still no luck. I've missed so many messages because of this issue. My friends who use iPhones are not facing this problem, so I assume it's specific to Android. It's been a whole year without notifications, so I'm starting to explore other options for group messaging.

This app is great. People of all ages can use it easily. But the recent UI update is not good. The messages look messy, there's no clear separation between them. And that new like button is just not nice to look at. I prefer the old UI design for this app.

Problems started in November with photos not showing up in the app. I see a blank box or a photo from another message instead. The only solution is to uninstall and reinstall the app, but then the photos vanish after about 6 messages. I reached out to support three times, and they keep saying it's fixed, sending me no email. To the support team: it should be "inconvenience," not "incontinence."

The app was good before, but now it's not so great. My chats haven't updated properly for a while and don't sync with the desktop version. The chat list, compose menu, and other parts of the UI feel too cramped. I usually like UI updates, but this one is poorly done. It's more buggy and inconsistent than ever. In an update on February 8th, 2019, they said the app is still not working correctly. You can't see all the members in a chat.
