What versions of the apps exist, how are they different and where can they be downloaded?
GymUp is the basic version of the application. If you have Android, then install it. The version is available for free download in Google Play , RuStore and AppGallery . There are restrictions, but they are minimal. For any version, the ability to expand the functionality to PRO is available (subscription or one-time purchase). If you suddenly need an APK file, you can download it either here on the site or on the official page of the application forum 4pda .
GymUp PRO is a version without any initial restrictions, but requires payment before installation. It is visually distinguished from the basic version by the PRO inscription on the application icon. In terms of available functionality, it is completely identical to the basic version extended to PRO. Why is it needed then? It happened historically. The fact is that this version appeared in those distant times when Google Play did not support in-app purchases. And when it began to support it, many thousands of users were already using it. Therefore, this version still exists and is updated simultaneously with the basic version. If you already have the basic version installed and you want to update it to PRO, then do it through in-app purchases, because it is as simple as possible and does not require data transfer. The version is available for download only on Google Play .
GymUp for Wear OS is a version for watches on the Wear OS platform. The application is not autonomous and works only in tandem with the main application on the phone. In it, you can view exercises and approaches, switch between exercises and complete them, add approaches, etc. The application is installed from the main application page in Google Play. If you suddenly need an APK file, you can download it either here on the website or on the official application page of the 4pda forum .
GymUp iOS version is the only version available for the iOS platform. The version is available for free download in the App Store . There are some limitations that can be removed by purchasing either within the application or here on the website . It is possible to transfer data from the Android version. The main problem with this version is that it still lags behind the Android version in functionality. However, many note a more pleasant design.
How to use the application?
There are many options! I will roughly describe at least the most probable scenario of use.
Brief description:
Create a program. Find a suitable training program in the reference book or create one yourself.
Start your workout. If you specify a program when creating a workout, you won't have to add exercises manually.
Perform exercises. Plan and add approaches, compare them with previous ones, use a rest timer, get statistics.
Complete the exercises and workout. Don't forget to complete the exercises to remove them to the end of the list, get the statistics of the execution and new records. After performing and completing all the exercises - complete the workout and get the results of its execution.
Monitor your progress. Get statistics with graphs for each exercise, workout, program. Analyze graphs and draw conclusions.
Take measurements of your body parts periodically. You may not notice changes in your body, but measurements will show everything objectively. You will see a change in parameters, which will motivate you to continue training even harder. Take measurements at least before and after the training program.
Periodically take photos of your body in different poses. After some time, you will be able to scroll through your photos in a certain pose and, by comparing adjacent photos, clearly see the results of your workouts.
Detailed description of some points above:
1. Creating a training program You can create a program completely manually, but the easiest way is to try to find a suitable one from the pre-installed ones. There are several options for adding, here is one of them:
Go to the Programs subsection of the Diaries section, press + and select "Select from directory".
Find and select the right program. Use filters, read descriptions and reviews from other users.
If necessary, adjust the program. For example, you can replace some exercises with others (if the gym doesn't have something) and/or add new ones. You can also set the rest time between sets of each exercise or, for example, change the order of the exercises.
You can share your program with a friend via a special code, and then he won’t have to waste time compiling it.
2. Create and start a workout
In the Diaries section (or in the Training subsection), click +. In the window that appears, select the desired program and day (this only needs to be done the first time, then the program will set the next day automatically). There is an option to schedule a workout - this is useful if you want to plan each exercise and each approach in advance, which will save time on training. After filling in everything completely, click Start training
You will be taken to a screen with exercises, and completing them all is your goal.
There are timers at the bottom. The left one is the time since the start of the workout, the central one is since the completion of the last exercise, the right one is since the last approach was added to the unfinished exercise.
3. Performing exercises
Click on the exercise you want (it's probably the first one on the list) to "drop into it". If you've done this exercise before, you'll see your previous results.
Based on the given execution strategy, previous results, your well-being, etc., plan the desired weight and repetitions
Physically perform a set (for example, lifting a barbell 5 times with some weight)
To record an approach, click on "+" or click on the row of the approach table that is closest to the completed approach. It is especially convenient to click on approaches if there are previous results.
In the screen that appears, enter the weight, repetitions, and subjective effort (this will help you better plan your approaches in the future) and click Add
If there are previous results, then after adding the approach you will immediately see the difference with them. Try to surpass previous results, but without risking your health.
The right timer has started counting down. If necessary, change the rest time, in the future this time will be automatically pulled into the next training.
Take a rest
After the signal, perform a new approach, etc. until the end of the exercise. The signal is only a guideline; a new approach can be performed either earlier or later than the signal.
4. Completion of the exercise and training
Once you have completed and added all the sets, click the "Finish Exercise" button below the set table or the checkbox on the top right (does the same thing).
After completing the exercise, you may see a notification about a new record. This is a very nice moment, you will like it.
The completed exercise will move to the bottom of the list. Now the first exercise in the list is your next exercise. But you don't have to go in order.
Proceed to the next exercise
When you have completed all the exercises, click the "Finish Workout" button or the flag on the top right
After completing the workout, you will see: a) The results of the workout (tonnage, intensity, number of approaches, etc.). If you are doing it according to the program, you will see the difference with the previous workout for this training day. b) The results of the local and cloud backup. The first time you will need to configure it with some permissions. Do not neglect the backup, believe me, losing your data is a disaster! c) A sports fact for the locker room. Read an amazing fact about sports and discuss it with your friends - this will make changing more fun.
5. Monitoring progress
The application can provide statistics: for all workouts, for workouts of a specific program, for workouts of a specific day of the program and for exercises. To display statistics, you need to press the button with the lightning icon at the top right of the corresponding screen. Also, when entering an exercise, the previous results will be displayed with statistics on them, which will allow you to plan current approaches.
