How do I earn Hilton Honors points?

Earning points on stays

You’ll earn 10 Hilton Honors Base Points for every eligible US dollar spent on your room including room service. If you’re an elite status member, you’ll get a 20-100% bonus, depending on your status tier.

Unique program features include the ability to pool points with up to 10 other members, and transfer points between different accounts. Each member is limited to sending 500,000 points and receiving up to 2,000,000 points via either method in a calendar year.

Buying points

Points promotions from Hilton Honors can represent good value for topping up points balances for specific redemptions. However, these offers aren’t usually great for using speculatively.

You can purchase a maximum of 80,000 Honors points before bonuses each calendar year. If you’re a new member, there is a waiting period for buying points of either:

- 30 days after enrolment if your account reflects activity (a hotel stay or earning of points through a Hilton Honors partner); or

- 90 days with no account activity

The regular price set by Hilton is 1 US cent per point. It’s best to wait for a 100% bonus, which halves that price.

Can I share my Digital Key?

Digital Key Share

Key share enhances the Digital Key and stay experience for our Members by allowing them to share Digital Keys via the Hilton app.

Send and receive Digital Key

For primary guests - send Digital Key

- Open the Hilton Honors app

- Select the 'Stays' tab

- Select your current stay

- Select your Digital Key

- On the Digital Key screen, select 'Share your key'

- Select the room you'd like to share

- Select 'Send invite' and choose the way you'd like to send the invitation (SMS or email)

- Send the invitation to up to four travel companions.

For travel companions - receive Digital Key

Make sure you're logged into the Hilton Honors app with your Hilton Honors account.

If you don't have the app, you'll be asked to download the app and create / sign into your Hilton Honors account upon selecting the link in the invitation message.

- Open the invitation (SMS or email) and select the link

- Accept or dismiss the invitation

- Complete adaptive authentication

- Wait for a notification confirming a Digital Key has been delivered.

Manage shared keys

Primary guests can manage their Digital Key shares from directly within the 'Digital Key Manager' section of the Hilton app.

- Open the Hilton Honors app

- Select the 'Stays' tab

- Select your current stay

- Select 'Digital Keys'

- Select the 'Key Manager' icon located in the lower-right side of the Digital Key screen

The Key Manager page allows the primary guest to view all active shared keys, initiate a new share, or revoke any or all shared keys.

Revoke shared keys

Shared Digital Keys can be revoked by the primary guest at any time during their stay or with help from Team Members at the front desk.

If the secondary guest hasn't accepted the key share invitation, the primary guest can click on the link sent in the SMS or email message, which will invalidate the link received by the secondary guest.

If the secondary guest has already accepted the invitation and received a Digital Key, the primary guest can revoke the key in the Hilton Honors app:

- Open the Hilton Honors app

- Select the 'Stays' tab

- Select your current stay

- Select 'Digital Keys'

- Select the 'Key Manager' icon located in the lower-right side of the Digital Key screen

- Select 'View / revoke shared key(s)'
