Install and activate an HMA iOS App

1. Download and install

Go to the Apple App Store product page for HMA VPN by clicking this link: HMA Hotspot VPN & Proxy

Then, tap Get to download and install the app.

2. Account Registration 

Open the HMA VPN app on your iOS device's home screen, tap Get Started, and follow the prompts.

If you want to buy a service from the Apple App Store, simply choose between available plans, then follow the on-screen instructions to purchase your subscription.

If you have bought a subscription on our website, please select the Already purchased? option instead.

3. Login 

If you purchase a subscription through Apple App Store, your app will be automatically activated.

If you've chosen the "Already purchased" option, you can select one of the following:

Restore from App Store: If you've previously purchased HMA VPN through the Apple App Store and are reinstalling the app, select this option, but make sure you're logged into the same Apple App Store account that was used for the subscription.

Sign in: Sign in to your HMA Account and restore your subscription.

Enter activation code: Unfortunately, activation codes cannot be used on iOS devices anymore. Please use one of the options above to restore your subscription.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using a retail code (a code purchased from one of our resellers and not from our website or through Google Play / Apple App Store), please first create an HMA account. After that, use the following link to redeem the retail code and receive an activation code:

Use the HMA iOS App

Connect to the VPN

To get the fastest connection, HMA VPN recommends an optimal location by default. To connect to the VPN, open the app and tap the OFF slider so that it changes to ON. If you're asked, follow the on-screen instructions to give HMA the necessary permissions to set up a VPN connection.

Choose a server

To select a server, go to the Location tab in the main app menu.

Then choose one of the following options:

Quick Access: Tap the Quick Access tab to save time and avoid scrolling through the full server list whenever you need to switch servers. You can quickly connect to recently accessed servers and streaming servers or use the Lightning Connect option, which automatically connects you to the fastest server based on your real location.

All servers list: Tap the All tab to access the full list of servers.

Favorites: On the Quick Access or All tabs, tap and hold a server, then swipe it to the left.

Now, switch to the Favorites tab on the top right to see the list of servers you’ve added.

Manage connection rules

Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the main page to open the options menu, then select Settings ▸ Connection Rules.

On the Connection Rules screen, you can set your VPN to automatically turn on when you connect to different network types. Alternatively, you can disable the auto-connect option.

You can also add private networks, such as your home or work Wi-Fi, to your list of trusted networks. Tap the Trusted networks tab and either add or remove previously added networks from the trusted network list. Trusted networks are excluded from your VPN auto-connect settings.

Subscription information

To view your subscription details tap the Account menu item in the options menu. Here, you can see the email address associated with your HMA account, your activation code, the expiry date, and the remaining subscription time. If you tap Manage subscription, you are taken to your HMA account. 

Contacting customer support

To contact us, tap the Contact Support menu item in the options menu. If you are logged in with your HMA VPN credentials in the app, your email address will be automatically entered. If you wish to use a different email address, you can just change it, but in this case, please don't forget to mention your HMA VPN account username in the ticket text. In addition, please include as much information about your issue and leave the mobile information box ticked.

1. WILL A VPN SLOW DOWN MY CONNECTION?

No lie: it’s possible. See, when you use a VPN, before you go to the website or service you want to use, your connection first hops to one of our remote servers. This is not an instantaneous process, so if someone in the US connects to a server in India to visit their local mayor’s website, their data is effectively traveling around the world — twice — to reach their screen: from their router to the HMA server in India, to the mayor’s website that’s likely hosted on a server in the states, then back to the server in India, then back to their router.

If your connection is fast enough, and you connect to one of our high-speed servers, the slowdown will be so negligible you won't notice it. If your connection is slow, and you connect to one of our more remote servers, there’s likely to be a noticeable slowdown.

HOW MANY DEVICES CAN I INSTALL HMA VPN ON?
