Troubleshooting Common Issues

When using HondaLink, you might encounter some common problems. Here are solutions to help you troubleshoot issues such as app connection failures, GPS location errors, and remote start malfunctions.

Honda Link App Not Connecting

Sometimes the HondaLink app refuses to connect to your vehicle, and it can be quite annoying. First, we need to make sure the app is updated to the latest version. An outdated app can cause connection problems. Check for updates in the app store.

Connectivity issues might relate to your phone’s settings as well. Ensure your Bluetooth is turned on and your device is paired with the car.

Steps to troubleshoot:

Restart your phone and the car.

    Reinstall the HondaLink app.

Check your permissions for the app.

Verify your network connection is stable.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you might have to contact Honda’s customer service for further assistance.

GPS Location Not Updating

Having trouble with your GPS location not updating is inconvenient when trying to use navigation services. This issue often relates to your phone’s GPS settings or the HondaLink app.

Ensure your phone’s location services are enabled and set to high accuracy.

Steps to fix GPS issues:

    Go to your phone’s settings.

    Select “Location” and enable.

Set the mode to “High accuracy.”

Also, verify that there’s no interference from objects blocking the GPS signal. If you’re in a dense urban area, tall buildings might affect signal reception.

Remote Start Not Working

Remote starting your vehicle can be a lifesaver on chilly mornings or hot afternoons. If this feature stops working, let’s look at a few potential causes and remedies.

Make sure your vehicle supports remote start and that you are using the correct sequence to activate it.

Steps to check remote start:

Confirm your vehicle is in PARK.

Ensure doors and trunk are closed.

Press the lock button on your key fob, then hold the remote start button until you see the lights flash.

If the car still doesn’t start, check the battery of your key fob because a weak battery can cause these issues. Also, make sure the vehicle’s hood is properly closed.

These tips should help resolve common issues with HondaLink. If problems persist, consulting a professional or reaching out to Honda’s support team might be necessary.

The HondaLink app doesn't offer much besides showing the mileage. In comparison, my previous car, a Chevy Equinox, which was cheaper than my Honda Pilot, had a better app with more features like locking, unlocking, and remote starting the car. Honda's app is quite basic in this aspect. Improving the app is simple since it lacks any significant features at the moment. Just adding even a minor feature would enhance the app. I'm not being sarcastic, just disappointed. As it stands now, the app isn't very useful.

So I just finished setting up Wi-Fi in my car and all the features for remote starting, locking, unlocking, etc. appeared the next day. But when I tried to use them, I kept getting an error saying "Remote Command Failed" and it asked me to "Please try again." Has anyone else had success with this app actually working? I'll let you know how it goes during my trial period. It seems like Honda should really work on fixing their app before trying to charge extra for other services.

So, we thought we could start the car and check trip details through the app based on the screenshots and sales info. But after we installed and got everything ready, all we could do was save a parking spot on a map. I can already do that with Google Maps, no need for another app. Sometimes, though not often, the fuel and mileage numbers will refresh. My recommendation: skip this app, it's not worth your time.

So, the app doesn't really update a lot when I click refresh. The newest stats I see are from the last time the car was turned on. It's not very useful since I already know how I left the car. I want to check how much charge has been added to the battery since I plugged it in, but it seems like this app can't show me that. It technically functions, but it's not very helpful in serving its purpose.

I've encountered a problem with the Honda Link app not working for my 2018 Si car. The app instructs me to connect via Bluetooth, but the directions are not helpful and lead nowhere. It seems like hitting dead ends both in the app and in the car itself. Although the app does show my car model and VIN correctly, all other details like odometer reading and maintenance alerts appear empty, displaying "- -" for each item. In my car's settings, it always shows "No notifications/messages." I really wish the Honda Link app would work properly so I could explore its usefulness, but unfortunately, I haven't had any success with it so far. 😞

Your phone used to connect to the HondaLink in your 2018 Accord. But now, the app keeps saying "connecting to HondaLink" without actually connecting. In the car, it shows as "disconnected." When I close that box, the app opens and the remote controls work. It all worked fine before the update. I called customer service, but after being on hold for 26 minutes, I gave up.

So, the app for my car actually works, but it's not all that helpful. I had a bit of a tough time getting it connected to my car at first, took quite a few tries and about an hour of fiddling around, but after that initial setup, it's been smooth sailing. The thing is, though, it's really lacking in some useful features. Checking things like the odometer, oil life, and scheduling maintenance appointments doesn't seem all that necessary, to be honest. But being able to find where I parked last can come in handy sometimes. The one feature that would really make a difference for me would be remote start and keyless entry, but unfortunately, that's not an option for my car.

So, here's the thing - when it comes to managing your subscriptions, you've got to go the old-fashioned route and either give them a ring or hop onto a computer. Just trying to input all your details into those data fields won't cut it. Plus, the app forgets to spill the beans on how much each subscription is gonna cost you, leaving you totally in the dark. And let me tell you, figuring out if you've actually purchased one feels like finding a needle in a haystack - it's that confusing. But hey, on the bright side, the app does a decent job of handling everything else. The only snag is with the car deets like gas and oil percentages - they're always off. But who really relies on an app for that kind of info anyway, right?
