Use Guide

1. How to access the kahoot creator

    Log in to your account.

    Click the Create button on the right side of the top navigation bar.

    Select the Kahoot option from the drop-down menu to make a kahoot.

Once you’ve started making a kahoot, you can navigate between questions and add new ones via the left-hand sidebar. You can create new questions from scratch, copy them from other kahoots, import slides from a presentation, or import quiz questions from a spreadsheet.

2. How to add questions

When making a kahoot, click the Add question button on the left-side panel below the questions you already added.

Choose the question type.

Type in the question. The questions from the Test knowledge section require you to provide the answers and mark the correct response (if applicable for the question type you selected).

🖌️ If you forget about an element of a question or you exceeded the character limit, an exclamation mark will appear on the left-side panel once you leave the question.

🖌️ Features marked with a star are not included in your current plan. If you use them, you'll be asked to upgrade to share, host, and assign your game. Read more about saving games.

🖌️ You can add up to 100 questions per kahoot.

2. How to move, duplicate, or delete questions

    Click on a question on the left-side panel.

    Drag a question vertically in the panel to place it above or below another question.

    Click the duplication icon  to duplicate a question.

    Click the trash bin icon  to delete a question.

3. Adding Kahoot! images

You can add images by uploading them from your device or find something in our image and GIF libraries.

You can 1 image, GIF, or video for each question.

💡 When editing a question, drag an image stored on your computer into the media box to upload the image to your question.

💡 You can also use the + media button to find the upload image option in the bottom left corner of the window. Browse your computer for an image and open it.

Nearly any image on your computer can be uploaded. There are a few limitations:

They must be in PNG, JPEG, or GIF format, and RGB color mode.

They must be no larger than 80MB, and 5000x5000 pixels or less.

Inserting from Kahoot! image and GIF libraries

The number of images that can be added to a kahoot from the image library depends on your plan level.

💡 When editing a question, click the + media button. 

💡 Type what you're looking for in the search bar at the top of the window and press enter.

💡 On the left-side panel you can change the category to GIFs and search for fun animated images to add to your question. You can also change the image provider (Getty or Unsplash) and the type of GIFs (standard or stickers).

💡 Between the search bar and your search results you'll see several related tags. Click on them to filter results. Selected tags will move to the far left of the tag list. You can deselect them by clicking on them again.

💡 When editing a kahoot, click Settings at the top of the kahoot creator.

💡  Click Change in the Cover image section.

💡  Select one of the images used in your questions or click Add Image.

💡  If you choose the Add image option, you can find an image in our libraries or upload it from your device (click Upload image at the bottom of the window).

Image reveal effect

The availability of the image reveal effect depends on your plan level.

💡 The image reveal effect can be added to the following question types: type answer, slider, quiz, and true/false.

💡 After you add an image to your question, you will see the Image reveal section on the right-side panel.

💡 Choose between original (no effect), 3x3, 5x5, or 8x8. The speed of this effect will vary based on the question’s time limit.

Credit a resource and add alternative text

💡 Click the ⓘ info button in the bottom-right corner of the image box.

💡 In the Add alternative text field you can describe the media in 1-2 sentences. This helps visually and hearing-impaired users understand the media.

💡 In the Credit source field, you can input a web address or citation for the source of your image.

💡 You cannot edit the credit resources field when using an image from our image library, but you’ll be able to find out the photographer’s name and other related details.

💡 Click the crop button next to the ⓘ info button.

💡 Zoom in with the slider at the bottom of the window.

💡 Drag the image to change the composition.

💡You can choose the shape of your media via the icons at the top of the window.

💡Click Save once you're done editing.

💡Use the Bin button next to the crop button in the bottom right corner to remove an image.

How to add or upload a video to a kahoot

Add a video via a link

Click anywhere in the Find and insert media box when adding a question.

A menu will appear with different media options. Choose Videos to search YouTube videos or add a direct link to a Vimeo video.

In the YouTube section, default results are based on your question text. Enter a word or phrase into the search bar to update results. Click on related tags just below the search bar to narrow results. Click on a video to select it.

In the Vimeo section, you have to insert a direct link to the video. You can copy this link directly from the Vimeo platform. It's not currently possible to search through Vimeo videos within kahoot creator.

To only play a portion of the video set the Start video at and Stop video at times. You can type these in manually or play the video and use the Set buttons to set a time value to the video's current playtime. The video cannot play for longer than the question timer.

Click the Add button to add the video to your question.

Upload a video from your device (available with certain plans)

You can upload a video file directly from your device.

    Click the Upload file option.

    Click Upload media.

☝️ The max. file size: 200MB.

    Find and select the file from your device.

    Set the start and end times.

Video in lobby

Wondering how to add a video to kahoot lobby?

☝️ Only YouTube videos can be added to kahoot lobby. It is currently not possible to add lobby videos from Vimeo or other providers.

    Enter the kahoot creator.

💡 To edit an existing kahoot of yours, find it in the Library tab and click the pencil button ✎.

    Click the Settings button at the top of the creator.

    Paste the link to the YouTube video into the Lobby video field.

💡 A lobby video will repeat in the background while participants join a live game. This is a useful opportunity to present an instructional or informative video your kahoot is based on. Or you can embed a music video to serve as custom lobby music.

4. Why my lobby video is not playing?

☝️ Most modern browsers have updated their policies around auto-playing videos.

☝️ If the lobby video doesn't autoplay, you can click anywhere on the video to get it going. After that, you can use the play button in the top right of your screen to start/stop it as needed.

5. How to save a kahoot: Drafts

Are you wondering why you can't share, assign, or host your game? It may be because it's saved as a draft.

What does it mean that my kahoot was saved as a draft?

💡 If you close the kahoot creator without saving or choose the Save as draft or Save to drafts option, your game will be saved as a draft.

💡 You'll see the option to save or keep your kahoot as a draft if:

📎 your game is missing some necessary elements (for example you did not add the title or the correct answer is not marked in a question from the Test knowledge category),

📎 you used a feature marked with a star - not included in your current plan.

💡 If your game is saved as a draft, it cannot be played, assigned, or shared.

5. How to save a kahoot as a playable and shareable version

💡 You need to save your game as a complete version to be able to share, assign, and host it.

    Go to your Library.

    Go to the Drafts tab.

    Click the Edit button under the game's title.

    Click the Save button in the top right corner of the kahoot creator.

You'll see a popup message either:

➡️ informing you about the missing elements of your kahoot that can be added by clicking the Fix button or

➡️ offering an upgrade to a higher-tier plan that includes the premium features used in your game. Any feature in the kahoot creator marked with a star isn’t included in your current plan. 

In this case, you can either remove the premium features or upgrade to save your kahoot as a complete version.

Click the Save button in the top right corner. If no additional popup message shows, your game will be saved as a complete version.

🎨 Check the Themes section of the kahoot creator. If you have any issues with saving the game, we can recommend removing the currently selected theme and checking if the game can be saved then.

Kahoot! Numbers by DragonBox moves beyond basic counting to teach children about the concept of numbers, how they function, and their practical applications. The game makes learning enjoyable and straightforward, helping children develop a sense of numbers and an intuitive understanding of them.

In Kahoot! Numbers by DragonBox, numbers are transformed into vibrant characters known as Nooms, which can be stacked, combined, sliced, sorted, compared, and played with in various ways. Through these activities, children learn fundamental mathematical concepts, as well as addition and subtraction using numbers ranging from 1 to 20.

FEATURES

The app features four distinct activities designed to encourage children to utilize Nooms and engage with basic mathematical concepts in different ways.

The "Sandbox" section enables children to explore and experiment with Nooms, making it an ideal platform for parents and teachers to elucidate basic mathematical principles to kids.

In the "Puzzle" segment, children use basic math skills to create puzzle pieces and place them correctly to reveal a hidden image. Each move reinforces their number sense. With over 250 puzzles, children perform numerous operations, enhancing their understanding of numbers.
