What to Expect: LingoDeer’s Main Features

LingoDeer has a lot to offer. Let’s have a look at its main features.

App and Browser Availability

As I’ve already mentioned, LingoDeer can be used as an app on your phone (both iOS and Android devices) or as a web language learning method.

If you have a premium plan, you can use it across all your devices and sync your progress.

Well-structured Courses

LingoDeer

LingoDeer’s courses have been carefully designed by language teachers and are very well organized.

I’m a language teacher myself, so I know course organization is crucial.

LingoDeer seems to know what it’s doing in this sense.

The courses are divided into different levels of expertise. Each level covers several everyday topics and each topic includes a few lessons.

The courses have a grammar skeleton that gets support from vocabulary, exercises, explanations, sample sentences and audio, among other features (as you’ll see below).

Every language has lessons covering everything up to the intermediate level.

Native Audio

Listening to native speakers of the language you’re learning is one of the best ways to get a good accent and practice your listening comprehension and speaking skills.

LingoDeer offers HD native audio for all its languages from the very first letter to the last sentence.

Learn Tab

LingoDeer

A big chunk of the material available for each language has been placed in this section.

When you access it, you’ll notice several things, some more obvious than others:

Alphabet

The alphabet section is naturally the first I always go to when I start learning a language.

I had no idea of how Japanese actually works, so it was very useful to have a place to learn all the hiragana and katakana characters with their romaji transcription.

I also got a very useful alphabet chart.

All the languages in the app include a very complete alphabet section with explanations, examples and native audio. If you’re just starting to learn a language, make sure this is the first place you visit.

Lessons

LingoDeer

Each level of every course includes several useful topics. The first ones for Japanese are Nationalities, Profession and People, but the Spanish course starts with Greetings, Introductions and Family, and the Russian one with Fruit, Occupations and Questions.

I've been using Lingodeer for a while now, actually since 2017. I have to say, out of all the language learning apps I've tested, this one has truly been a game changer for me. The interface is super user-friendly, the lessons are structured perfectly, there's a good focus on teaching grammar alongside vocabulary, and it offers a mix of different learning techniques. The content is top-notch, making it stand out from other apps I've used before. And the best part? It's completely free!

I decided to go for the lifetime membership because I believe in supporting the language learning process. It just wouldn't feel right to ask for such comprehensive help without giving back. Personally, I prefer this teaching style since I learn best visually. The way they present information really suits my learning preferences. It's great to see the team constantly improving the platform - a few years ago it was good, but now it's even better! I appreciate that I can work on writing, grammar, and pronunciation all at the same time.

So, I heard so many great reviews about this app and I thought, "Hey, why not give it a try?" The interface was user-friendly and I was really getting into it. But then, just as I finished the second lesson, boom! I hit a paywall. And you know what? I wasn't too keen on dishing out the cash without having a better idea of what I was getting into. I think it would've been better if they let you go through all the lessons until you reach that first test checkpoint before asking you to pay up.

This app is really great. It's important to go through the optional Grammar lessons in each section, even though they may be easy to overlook – they are essentially necessary before you move on to the other parts. If you're beginning a new language, even if you're just learning casually and don't feel like jotting things down, I suggest having a notepad handy to take notes on the grammar rules. Also, if it's a non-Roman language, write down the alphabet and its corresponding sounds. Consistently using this app will get you ready to explore any language more thoroughly.

If you want to learn a language fast, this app might not be the best choice. But if you prefer a more gradual approach like me, it's really awesome. The cool thing is you can purchase the premium version for lifelong access, and they often offer discounts on it. It's perfect for building a solid foundation in a language and breaking it down into manageable chunks. While some lessons may feel repetitive at times, they actually help reinforce your learning. Also, the story reading challenges provide a good dose of critical thinking.

So, I have this language issue that makes learning languages a real challenge for me. But hey, my partner is Korean, so I was super keen on learning the language no matter what. I tried out quite a few language apps, but let me tell you, this one is different - finally making some headway! The little tests they have are really handy too. The only downside? Some of the verbal conversations throw in words that the app hasn't taught me yet. Other than that, it's awesome!

This app is really cool because it helps you improve your reading, speaking, and object recognition skills. If you take a break from using it for a few days, it might get a bit harder, but don't worry, you'll get back into the swing of things quickly! Like many other language apps, the main challenge is practicing speaking with someone who can correct you. It would be awesome if there was a community page where you could connect with others who are also learning - that would make a huge difference!

I've gotta say, this language learning app is the bomb! Unlike some others *ahem* Drops *ahem*, it doesn't rush you or just throw random words at you. It gives you whole sentences to learn, which is super helpful. Plus, it's not bugging you to write an essay every few seconds like some apps do. And hey, if you make an account, you can use it on different devices, which is pretty convenient. Oh, and let's not forget the slick design and easy-to-use layout - really top-notch. I'd totally suggest checking it out!
