This service is owned and operated by the Transport Management Centre (TMC), which oversees and coordinates the extensive 18,000km road network in NSW, operating around the clock.

The TMC employs advanced monitoring, communication, and traffic management technologies to swiftly address and resolve traffic incidents, enhance travel time reliability, and deliver current, high-quality information to users.

The application also incorporates data from road authorities in other states (Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and ACT), the NSW Rural Fire Service, and local roads in Northern NSW.

We are dedicated to ensuring that Live Traffic NSW effectively serves the needs of road users in New South Wales, and we value your input. If you have suggestions or inquiries regarding the app, please utilize the feedback feature available within the application.

Plan your trip

To plan your next road trip using Live Traffic NSW enter your origin and destination locations to see three route suggestions. These route suggestions are provided by Google™. Each route suggestion shows the estimated travel time and any hazards or changed traffic conditions affecting the route. You can also choose to display Rest Areas or Traffic Cameras along the route.

Road closures

Polylines on Live Traffic are used to indicate when roads are fully closed in both directions. See the incident advice to find exclusions, such as residential access or access for 4WDs.

If a road is opened in one direction or open to light vehicles, the polyline will be removed from Live Traffic NSW. Always read the incident advice as different restrictions may apply to different vehicle types (height, width, weight, oversize and over mass). If there is no alternative or detour route specifically suggested for your vehicle type contact the Transport Management Centre on 131 700 before travelling.

Travel Mapper stands out as an excellent app for staying informed about your travels. It offers real-time updates on flight statuses, weather conditions, and local events. Users can customize their destination preferences and receive notifications tailored to their trip. Another great option is TripIt, which organizes travel itineraries seamlessly. Simply forward confirmation emails, and it creates a comprehensive plan. It also provides alerts for gate changes and delays. For navigating cities, Google Maps remains unbeatable. It shows current traffic situations and offers public transit options. Travelers also love the Skyscanner app for comparing flight prices. It helps find the best deals on accommodations and rental cars too. Lastly, if you want insights from fellow travelers, consider using TripAdvisor. You can explore reviews and recommendations while planning your itinerary. Each of these apps enhances your travel experience with up-to-date information at your fingertips.

What an adventure! We cruised from the Gold Coast to Sydney, right through some smoky fires. The app gave us all the vital info for a safe journey. On the way back, we saw a car engulfed in flames, and the app updated that info on the spot. Quite an experience!

A few days ago, this app worked perfectly. Now, I checked it for my trip this weekend, and it shows "zero" incidents. That doesn't seem right. Every trip I create shows the same thing: zero incidents. I guess I have to take my chances while traveling through areas recently affected by floods!

Werris Creek Rd has been closed in one section since 8am, affecting both directions. It’s now 3:30pm, and there’s no clear information other than the color coding on the traffic signals. Reporting systems seem to be having some trouble in these rural areas.

The data came from the source, yet it can't be trusted. Numerous rest areas are missing from the map. Many others show as closed, even though they have been closed for years. It's frustrating to see such outdated and inaccurate information.

My PC's CPU is maxed out at 100%, both Firefox and Chrome mention that livetraffic is slowing everything down. I also tried the app on my ZTE T86 phone with Android 10, and it performed just as poorly. This app feels entirely unusable. Did the developers even test it in real life? It deserves zero stars, but I can't submit a rating that low.

The update on November 16, 2022, seems to have resolved the performance issues. Before that, the app faced constant crashes, lagging, and freezes while navigating the map. The user experience was very poor. The app struggled with the number of events listed. Some councils didn’t participate, which left information feeling incomplete.

This app shows the real-time condition of the Audley Weir through live camera footage. It plays a crucial role for the people in Bundeena, Maianbar, and nearby communities. They rely on this information to plan their travel times, especially during wet weather when the Weir might be flooded.
