Understanding the Gameplay Mechanics of MARVEL Strike Force

For basics, MARVEL Strike Force is a turn-based RPG (Role-Playing Game) that features thematic battles in a turn-based order. Apart from the competitive and strategic battles, the game also focuses on an original storyline that is fixed and cannot be altered unlike other MARVEL games. You can advance in the storyline by completing the campaign missions. We will explain more about the combat mechanics of the game later in another section. As you start the game, a pleasant tutorial will be there to guide you about the basic gameplay elements present in the game. 

Nick Fury and Black Widow will constantly appear and explain you about each and every individual system set in place for your heroes growth. The plot of MARVEL Strike Force is really straightforward: Ultimus is waging war on humanity. Due to Ultimus’s massive and vicious strike, teams of superheroes and villains must come together to combat him. 

These teams will be assembled by you, the “commander,” who will then guide them into combat. However, there is a catch: in order to “unlock” the heroes and villains, you must locate the inter-dimensional spheres that contain almost all of them. Your first hero acquired will be Spider-Man, and you’ll have to finish a lot of missions to find the other superheroes and villains. You can get Luke Cage, for example, by completing only 1 mission. A lot of patience and perseverance is required to unlock the rest of the characters. 

Understanding the Combat Mechanics of MARVEL Strike Force

The combat system of MARVEL Strike Force is quite simple to learn but difficult to master, especially at the higher levels. The premise of combat is simple – each character (allied or enemy) gets a turn depending on their speed. The battles can be extremely short (10-15 seconds) or gruesomely long (2 minutes) depending on the level of your heroes and the stage you are fighting. Boss fights, for example, usually require more research and team-building than tackling the minions in normal fights. 

Each character has multiple active and passive abilities, denoted by individual icons on the right-hand side when your hero takes their turn. Abilities also have cooldowns, being activated when you use them. Depending on how well you performed, you will be awarded different prizes at the conclusion of each combat. A scoring system ranging from 1 to 3 is in place, with the higher your score, the higher your reward. Sometimes, you may even succeed in obtaining the boss foes’ character shards. This is the sole method available in this context to unlock certain characters: For instance, you must first defeat Crossbones in order to unlock it.

MARVEL Strike Force: Major Game Modes Explained

There are multiple game modes in MARVEL Strike Force that offer you generous rewards. Let’s check them out:

Campaign Mode: This is the primary go-to story mode of the game. Players can traverse through multiple stages in a carefully orchestrated chapter wise selection screen. In MARVEL Strike Force, there are several requirements you need to fulfill in order to play the individual chapters. For example, the chapter Villains United requires players to have 3 villain type characters in your roster. Each chapter is divided into 9 stages, and each stage can reward you significantly. At the end of each chapter, the last stage will always have a “Boss” fight. Some common rewards that can be gotten from these stages are XP points, gold, orb fragments, and equipment.

Blitz: You battle against an AI squad in this 5v5 arena scenario. At level 14, it turns on. There is no plot, only combat as you battle against opposing teams that are on par with your own. Blitz can be compared as a PvP mode where players compete with the AI. You gain “Blitz points” for each combat you win. There are 14 tiers in this mode, and some characters can only be unlocked with Blitz points.

Arena: A PvP mode where you battle other players that activate at level 30. This mode is very different from the original game in that it demands the formation of a PvP-focused squad. Once more, there is no plot: you are competing against actual individuals in this event.

Alliance Raid: You need to become a member of an alliance to play this game mode. Alliance unlocks after reaching Level 20. The “Alliance Raid” feature begins to function at Level 25. The hardest fights and most precious gear in the game are available in this setting. You and the other members of your alliance battle Ultimus in the most recent raid. “Raid energy” is the currency used in this mode.
