I find the app generally satisfactory and use it more than any other, but each update seems to be a gamble. Some updates are unnoticeable, while others completely disrupt the app's functionality. In the last update, I didn't receive notifications, and this time my photos won't send; they're just stuck on "sending" indefinitely. If I attach a comment with the photo, my friends get confused by the lack of context and end up asking questions. It seemed like they had everything sorted out before, but then they started making unnecessary changes, and now the app is full of bugs.

For some time, I had generally been satisfied with the app. However, this most recent update is disappointing. On a positive note, being able to edit sent messages is a welcome addition. Nonetheless, there are several drawbacks: the inability to select specific sections of text, the elimination of the swelling effect when holding down the thumbs up icon, the inconvenience of navigating a long list rather than being able to search for reaction emojis, the removal of the small indicator bubble at the lower right of each message, and the frustrating rearrangement of sent pictures into a clumped format rather than a grid. These changes are incredibly frustrating and I dislike them immensely.

Application stability has been progressively compromised in recent updates. An issue arises when attempting to access files or photos within a chat, causing the app to crash. Additionally, there are instances where certain pictures or videos cannot be sent from the phone, despite being successfully sent through the Desktop app. When attempting to share pictures from the gallery, an error message stating "An Error Has Occurred" is displayed. Furthermore, instead of opening the intended specific folder, the app opens all photos in the phone gallery when trying to access particular gallery folders.

Since the update introducing end-to-end encryption, the messaging experience has become rather chaotic. Transmitting images and videos now takes significantly longer, despite being on a strong Wi-Fi network. Occasionally, messages seem stuck at "sending" before vanishing without a trace. An especially frustrating aspect is the automatic deletion of older messages. It's high time to revert back to the previous system – the older way was undeniably smoother without the complications of end-to-end encryption.

I find the updated Messenger layout quite appealing, yet there's a notable snag with call features. In both individual and group calls, profiles now display differently compared to prior versions (either 300 or 399). This discrepancy hinders the ability to easily capture screenshots for memorable instances. Some users have reverted to using the older version solely for this purpose, but that workaround is no longer viable. Reinstating the functionality to take accurate call screenshots with the correct profile images would represent a valuable enhancement.

Edit: I initially rated the app with one star in 2019 due to its numerous bugs. However, a recent update has completely transformed the user interface, making it faster and significantly less buggy. I want to express my gratitude for the excellent work done by the development team. Over the past few months, the app had become extremely problematic, with new updates introducing more issues rather than resolving existing ones. It seemed like the bugs were never being addressed. While I understand that experienced developers may be reluctant to work at Facebook, I kindly request that you make efforts to improve the app despite the challenges you may face.

I find it disappointing that even with the most recent update, the notes function in Messenger just isn't working as expected for me. This feature is crucial for my organization and efficiency, so its malfunctioning is really throwing me off. I'm eager for this problem to be addressed promptly since it's hindering my ability to make the most of the app. I am eagerly anticipating the next update in hopes that this feature will be back up and running smoothly.

I was just compelled to update this app, and it ceased displaying my messages while indicating their presence but not allowing me to access them due to the outdated version. Unnecessary updates often result in apps functioning poorly and impacting phone performance. Rather than replacing the old data, updates tend to accumulate alongside it, bloating the file size. Moreover, this mandatory update consumed my personal data, which incurred costs. I found myself in a situation where I had to pay for and download an update I neither desired nor requested.
