Missiles is an excellent Android game for passing the time and avoiding boredom.

In the game, you must control the plane in order to accumulate stars and avoid missiles. The plane can be controlled using a joystick or by pressing the left and right buttons on the screen. As you progress through the game, you can earn points that will allow you to unlock new planes. There are also shield and speed boost power-ups in the game. The game also has two game modes: normal and fast. Earn as many points as possible to remain at the top of the Google Play Games leaderboards.

Missiles! is a minimalist arcade game where players have to soar through the skies while dodging missiles and picking up stars. The objective, of course, is to hold on as long as you can without a missile ending your adventure. The longer you last in the sky, the more points you'll get on the worldwide scoreboard.

The stars you pick up during matches allow you to unlock other planes. In the beginning, you'll only have access to one plane, but as you advance, you'll unlock up to five different models. Each one of them comes with its own series of special attributes (some turn better, others are faster, etc).

In the settings options, you'll be able to change system controls. Here, you'll also find three different control styles: all of which are fairly intuitive, but only one is actually really comfortable. It's the one where you tap to the left or right to move your plane. You'll also be able to choose on the main menu if you want to play at normal or super fast speed.

Missiles! is a reminder that simple games can still be fun

Missiles! is yet another of Macaque’s “fun” entries. The title is simple and requires very little acclimation. Players control a minimalist red propeller plane, piloting the vehicle as an increasing number of homing missiles attempt to blow it out of the sky. The whole point of the game is to stay alive for as long as possible, avoiding missiles and collecting stars to increase your high score.

The plane can be piloted with three slightly different controls — a joystick, left and right arrows, and freeform finger control. Players can also hook up an external controller for finer piloting and switch between normal and fast missile speeds to increase the game’s difficulty. No matter how you choose to play the game, however, the purpose and end goal remains to stay alive for as long as possible. It’s simple, clean and fun, in ways that only mobile games truly can be.

Make no mistake, I love complex story-driven video games, I really do. Likewise, I love mobile games of all creeds and colours — complicated RPGs, sprawling open-world action adventure titles, as well as fun arcade apps designed to pass a few minutes of life at a time. That being said, simple mobile games like Missiles! bring joy to my heart because they’re elegant in their simplicity.

Of course, Missiles! is not without a single minor criticism. The game is entirely free-to-play and there’s no way to pay-to-win. Still, an ad does play between every five or six rounds, which does technically break up the flow of gameplay. Players can pay $1 CAD to avoid these ads entirely. Again, it’s a minor criticism because the ads don’t actually last very long at all.

Missiles! is a simple piloting game that's fun, fast, and addictive. It's the perfect game for a short match, and keeps you on your toes thanks to its variety of speeds and selection of different planes that you'll get to unlock.
