FAQ

Is Mixcloud Live a licensed platform?

Yes, Mixcloud is a licensed service.

We have agreements in place with many rights-holder partners around the world, including major record labels, independent record labels, publishers, distributors, performance rights organisations, collective management organisations, and more.

How long can I stream for? Will my stream be available to listen to later?

There are currently no limits for how long your stream can be.

However, please note that our system is designed to refresh your stream after 8 hours to avoid unwanted interruptios and to improve stability. If you're planning an extended stream, we recommend making sure that your streaming software is configured to automatically reconnect.

Mixcloud can also save the audio from your live stream for listeners to enjoy later. Your total time on air must be between 15 minutes and 6 hours for it to be saved to your profile.

Can I stream on Mixcloud using ShoutCast, IceCast or BUTT?

Mixcloud Live needs RTMP to connect. As internet radio streaming services like ShoutCast, IceCast and BUTT don't provide an RTMP connection, you won't be able to use them to stream with us.

Does Mixcloud notify my followers I’m going live?

Yes, we'll notify users who follow you on Mixcloud if they're using the platform on either the app or desktop when you go live.

Your live stream will also be visible to users browsing Mixcloud on browser and mobile.

We also recommend sharing your link to your stream via your social channels to let your fans know you're going live.

Can I start a private stream?

Your stream can be accessed by anyone who has the URL while you're broadcasting.

However, you can limit how this is promoted by setting your stream to 'unlisted' before you start broadcasting, your live stream will not be listed as 'live' and your followers won't receive a notification.

The music is awesome, but the Android app is really bad. It's hit or miss - sometimes it works fine, sometimes it won't even open. Reinstalling doesn't fix it. It usually gets stuck when trying to connect to Facebook for login. Waiting a few days usually does the trick, but it's not great.

Wow, this Android app is just terrible! So many problems - glitches everywhere, especially when trying to use Chromecast. Navigating the app is a nightmare, it's really awful. The most annoying part is how you have to keep trying to play something, and then you end up using all your free plays. And to top it off, the content is someone else's copyrighted material. The developers should be embarrassed by how bad this app is!

The app can be really annoying. It's like a rollercoaster - sometimes it runs smoothly, other times it just crashes. You open it up and the front page won't update. Your playlist is empty. And when you try to remove old mixes or rearrange the queue, nothing happens. It's a shame because it has so much potential.

Giving this App 2 stars because of errors, crashes and faults. Discovered Mixcloud as my favorite music platform with experienced and upcoming DJs in various styles and genres worldwide. Plagued with issues that should have been caught during testing. Uncertain if it's app or system updates causing intermittent but persistent problems especially after using headphone media controls.

The service is good, but it's crippled by the app. The app covers up notification bar so you can't see the clock or notifications with black bar. You can't get into setting, share, or do anything in your profile. Click any menu option, nothing happens. It's unbelievably slow. You can actually watch the UI elements draw. I have a brand new Google Pixel, not the phone. The app doesn't support landscape orientation, and more.

Recently signed up for Mixcloud. Browser experience on my computer was great. But app performance is really bad. App keeps hanging and not responding when I try to navigate menus. Even after unfollowing artists, still see their posts in feed. Subscribed to labels/groups, but nothing shows in feed. Mixcloud, please fix your app.

I bought a subscription that was supposed to be £5, but then VAT was added at the payment screen. I still went ahead and paid for it, only to realize that I couldn't download content to listen offline. It seems like the subscription is mainly to remove ads and add some playback features, but this wasn't clear from the beginning. The player keeps stopping and losing its place, so downloading is important, but you have to pay extra for that. I'm really disappointed with the whole experience and I've already canceled it. It's just not good.

Enjoy the stuff, dislike the app. When I pause, it starts over from the beginning. Can't track listened episodes. After one ends, it plays the newest, not the next. Would pay for premium but app bugs me. Using Pixel 3 XL by the way.

Flipping my wax records is more entertaining than using this player. I always have to manually move to the next song after one finishes. Reinstalling the app doesn't help, and it drains my battery too. Without wifi, everything comes to a halt. Even the songs from the artist I subscribe to don't play smoothly. It's really frustrating. Once my subscriptions end, I'm getting rid of this app forever.
