My Heroes: Dungeon Raid – Hunting Grounds Guide
What Do You Need?
For stage 15
High gem bastion.
3 good different elemental builds, which are decent at killing multiple monsters (aoe heavy builds come in handy). You also need them to have spammable skills to proc avatar (hunting ground buff, especially for stage 5!).
Abyss setup.
Dmg boost. In stage 3 and 4 you will quite often encounter different elements other than the “main element of the stage“. So make sure your M gems have dmg boost on them. It also helps you vs solomon as its neutral.
Meet the requirements of the stage – DI: 7940. EP: 2565 vs weak enemy, 2850 vs neutral, 3277 vs strong. 3277 is the requirement since the later stages have all elements.
Good boss line-up (more in strategy).
Guild buffs.
Decent bulkiness/sustain.
(Optional) Access to blue/purple/gold whetstone/blade oil. If you are a bit weaker, the buffs could help you a lot. Ep and dmg boost are fine (EP preferred based on reds calculations compared to dmg boost).
(Optional) arena gems for Solomon (not needed since you abuse avatar buff).
Here are my boss stats with myth setup (pre-Abyss era) as a reference to see if you are able to do it:
- Fire: 5-6T DPS
- Wood: 5-6T DPS
- Water 10T DPS
Nothing too special, but keep in mind that I did a full mage run and that mages can break shields easier). With abyss the requirements are way lower, as it gives you such a huge boost, vs shield and is extremely good vs multiple monsters.
For stage 14
Can be cleared with one element. Should obviously be decently strong and you should be able to hit the DI requirement, which is 7340. The EP requirement is: 2250 vs weak elements, 2500 vs neutral elements & 2875 vs strong elements. Try to at least hit 2875~ EP. Around 2-3T DPS should do fine here.
The Strategy
Hunting grounds line-up
Everyone has a build that sticks out, let it be due to insane gems/stats or just that the build is way stronger compared to the other elements. In order to maximize it, you want the weekly line up to favor your strong build. This basically means, that if for instance your water build is the strongest, there should be 2 fire bosses in the weekly line up, preferably one at stage 4. The stages get progressively harder due to other elements appearing and you dont want your weakest element to struggle at stage 4. In my run I had a fire boss on stage 1 and 4, which made farming for 2 good buffs in stage 1 easy.
Boss or mob build?
Generally speaking, you want to use builds, that clear rooms quite fast aka builds which are also good at mob towers and abuse the avatar buff for bosses (also helps vs normal monsters). With abyss, you don‘t need to switch to your mob build (no boss dmg) as it‘s generally good vs multiple monsters and naturally has no boss dmg. I had to use a slight mob build for stage 1-4 since abyss wasn‘t available at that time.
Stage 1
This is the most important stage and probably needs the most resets. Every stage contains up to 2 elite chests. In this stage you want to get 2 good buffs by killing the elite monster (symbol with elite chest). Ideally you want an altar, which grants you +35% atk, near the entrance or the early rooms of the stage and the elite chests to be on the normal route up to the boss for the fastest time. Here is a picture with an ideal setup (note the room I’m in is an elite room, so this is just perfect).
Stage 1 is the easiest, so you could potentially move to an extra room for the chest depending on your clear speed. For stage 1 it’s extremely hard to get the perfect setups, as you also need to be lucky to get the buffs you want, otherwise you have to keep on resetting the stage again until you got the ones you desire. The buffs you want are:
Buff tier list
Tier 0: Must have – Avatar
This buff is just insane and core for stage 5. It tremendously helps you vs every monster and makes killing things way easier. It has to be acquired in the first stage (doesn’t have to be the early rooms but getting it early on doesn’t hurt). Your builds should also be able to make use of it, which means you should ideally be able to spam 10 skills within 5 seconds. For stage 1-4 fewer skills within 5 seconds are OK. Some builds like furfur mage can proc it extremely fast.
Tier 1: Good to have (one of them is enough) – Shield Breaker or Runner
Shield Breaker is for most builds quite easy to apply and stack. An extra 30% dmg taken (19% due to claw, pets/skills not included) is always nice to have and synergizes really well with Avatar.
Another good option is Runner. You just have to walk around while using your skills to get the extra 35% ATK. Due to abyss, idol card and altar buff giving you also % atk, it isnt as strong as it might look, but nevertheless still very decent. (side note for furfur mage players: you jumping around isnt considered moving unless you move actively, which lowers your damage.).
Tier 1.5: Really powerful but niche – Weeping Blood
Really good for builds that have low skill dmg in general (ninjas) and can proc it every time. Could be niche since some builds need skill dmg while others need basic atk, which doesnt make it useful for all your 3 builds. Mages & Priests can use them as well, but they have high skill dmg which results it being weaker compared to other classes.
Tier 2: Too niche
Shield Breaker for basic atk builds. Even builds that arent basic atk based can proc it (not mages), but it takes more time to stack it and it’s usually not a big aoe to stack it on every monster on the map.
All other buffs are not recommended, as their buff is either too low (crit dmg) or have requirements that make it only useful for certain scenarios (+45% skill dmg for killing a monster – doesn’t help you vs bosses).
By the end of stage 1 you want to have Avatar + another skill , ideally from tier 1 or tier 1.5, if you can use it well. I don’t recommend to farm more buffs after stage 1. You could get another buff in stage 2 but ist not necessary and it can take too much time.
Stage 2-4
These stages don’t require many reruns. Since you don’t need further buffs, skip the elite rooms. The only strategy that you need here is to re-enter the stages until you get the altar exactly next to the entrance.
The altar gives you the Striker buff, which grants you +35% ATK for the rest of the stage and it’s basically a free room where you dont lose time killing monsters. Avoid dying to monsters at any costs, as it removes your striker buff when you do so.
It’s also wise to prepare your skills in the entrance since the timer starts when you move to another room, This could be either to enable your toggle skills or use 9 skills to prepare your Avatar buff for the first monster room to instantly deal 8% HP aoe dmg.
If you think you came across many enemies, which are strong against your element, you should re-enter the stage to get a better RNG. This includes bad positioning of enemies or you screwing over as every second matters. You do this for every stage from 2 to 4.
Stage 5 – Final stage
By stage 5, you should have a decent time. If you are under 8 minutes, congrats – you can easily clear it under 12 minutes (if you have the build for it). Above 9 minutes is too high. For my run I had this timer:
And by the end of stage 5
So with my strategy it takes around 3 minutes to clear solomon. I used furfur mage as it can proc avatar quite easily and doesnt take much dmg. My furfur still does some dmg, but the main dmg source is the avatar buff.
What’s the Solomon Strategy?
You ignore all the 4 bosses and go straight to solomon. Do your preparation in the main entrance and keep an eye on your avatar stacks. Make it to 9 stacks so you can instantly proc it once you are at solomon. The key is to survive and proc almost off cooldown while he is not in iframe. The faster you are able to stack avatar, the more forgiving it is when you proc avatar during his iframe. Dying isnt as bad as it seems, as long you can still proc avatar off cooldown. There are no punishments like +15s for dying. However your own damage might make a difference, so you don’t want to die too often. He has skills that can oneshot you, so dodge them. PS: Also learn when the boss is in iframe to avoid using buffs right before it and time your avatar to hit him while he can be seen (avatar misses when he is in iframe).
In order to make this to work you need a build that can proc avatar easily or you could take a skill which is spammable . Another option would be to kill one boss that is weak against you, so you deal more dmg to solomon. My dmg with furfur with myth isn’t that high, so I went with this strategy. Make sure to re-enter the stage and not clear it if you notice you won’t make it in time (the lower the HP from solomon, the tankier he becomes). Last but not least: Try what’s best for you.
