Leaks customer data

The NTRA mobile app offers users a wealth of informative content regarding the Egyptian telecom service industry, guiding them on how to navigate and utilize these services safely. It also educates users about their entitlements and responsibilities when utilizing telecommunications services in Egypt.

My NTRA App has a number of online interactive services designed for individuals:

The first service provided is the Complaint System which allows users to escalate their complaints to NTRA, in case such complaints could not be resolved with the operator. It also enables users to inquire about and track their complaints. The second service provided is Mobile Number Portability (MNP), where users can inquire about the status of their request to shift operators while keeping the same line number, the process which currently takes place for free and within 24 hours. The third service is Internet Speed Test, which allows users to examine and measure the speed of internet services provided on mobile phones, whether such services are provided through WiFi or mobile data. In addition, the fourth service provided by NTRA on this app is actually the Operator Quality Map. This service enables users to figure out the quality of voice and data services within an area of their choice through an interactive map, so as to be able to get the best service possible. Meanwhile, the fifth service provided is My Tariff, where users are allowed to inquire about or cancel mobile entertainment services, have a full knowledge of all packages and systems matching their buying power, or access information about their mobile consumption as clarified by operators in Egypt’s market. Eventually, the sixth service is called My Lines, where users, with their National ID, could know how many mobile lines registered with their names in the networks of all mobile operators working in Egypt’s market. In fact, this service would protect the privacy of subscribers and would also reduce fraudulent operations. Moreover, NTRA provided, within the App, a full guide on telecom-user rights in Egypt’s market. Sections like Important Numbers, which contains a list of important emergency hotlines as well as hotlines of government entities that users may need to contact, are also provided. In addition, the app contains a section called Outlets, where locations of operators’ outlets are actually included.

My NTRA App also contains a separate section for corporate services, where all procedures of telecom licenses, custom clearance and NTRA’s e-services could be accomplished. It is worth mentioning that NTRA’s e-services encompass type approval, issuance of licenses to import telecom equipment as well as the ability to track the status of requests submitted in-advance.

To have access to all interactive services provided by such an app, users are required to submit valid data of their mobile number and National ID. My NTRA could be also downloaded from Play Store for Android users, while iOS users could download it from App Store. So as to be mentioned, the App supports both languages; Arabic and English, according to the language settings of your phone.

MY NTRA among WSIS Prizes Champion Projects in e-Government

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority’s interactive mobile application “My NTRA” has been selected as one of the Champion Projects of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2022, Category 7 — AL C7. ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life — e-government. The application beat out 966 projects.

The winners have been announced at the WSIS Forum, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on March 15- June 3, with the participation of more than 2,500 experts from 193 countries. The Forum represents the world's largest annual gathering of the ICT for development community. WSIS Forum has proven to be an efficient mechanism for coordination of multi-stakeholder implementation activities, information exchange, creation of knowledge, sharing of best practices and continues to provide assistance in developing multi-stakeholder and public/private partnerships to advance development goals.

The selection of My NTRA was based on several criteria, most notably for meeting global e-government standards; supporting the Egyptian national strategy of digital transformation; and making services available in a digital format, as an alternative to traditional methods. In addition, the application helps foster competition and promote innovation; serves both individual and corporate users; and targets different beneficiary groups such as youth, seniors, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and users in remote and rural communities, thus facilitating the public access to services nationwide.

The application was launched late last year in response to the complaints received by NTRA. It is aimed at covering the needs of users in the telecommunications market and supporting the national digital transformation efforts.

My NTRA is a leading application in terms of the number of services it provides to end-users. It has hit 2.3 million downloads, so far. The application serves as an effective tool that helps protect users’ rights, provides information on a variety of services, and assists users when it comes to choosing the best mobile network operator (MNO).

NTRA Adds My Wallets to My NTRA Service Range

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has recently added the My Wallets service to the range of services included within its interactive mobile application, My NTRA. This came in response to the reviews, complaints and needs of users, collected by NTRA.

This step is part of the role of NTRA in providing better telecommunication services for individual and corporate users, improving users’ experience and facilitating their access to services through mobile phones. This in line with the national efforts to support digital transformation.

Using their ID number, users can check and deactivate the e-wallets registered in their names across the four mobile network operators (MNOs) in Egypt, as well as with banks, through the application. Each user can have a maximum of three e-wallets according to the regulatory frameworks established by NTRA and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

NTRA has also added Importer Services and Devices to the range of services offered to corporate users. This is a licensing service for the use of wireless communication devices, that allows users to complete the procedures related to permits, licenses and customs clearance of telecommunication devices.

We fixed the problem with number duplication. To improve the quality map, we will add two new features. First, you can now search for an address just like you do on Google Maps. Second, you can use your mobile GPS to get your location. This way, you can find out which mobile network works best in your current location and other places you frequently visit, such as work, school, or college.
