Nest - Home automation control

The service is highly customizable and all the Nest products work seamlessly together as well as with other smart devices. The app is easy to navigate and I've been using it for 2-3 years now. I have 2 thermostats, 4 cameras, 2 door locks (1 installed at my Airbnb), and a Nest Guard with 6 sensor areas. Occasionally, I feel a bit frustrated when trying to figure out how to do something, but usually, the feature is available, I just need to explore more. It seems to improve over time as I uncover new options.

The sensor schedule sometimes stops working randomly, so I have to manually restart it. There are too many bugs in the system. It would be helpful if we could have more control over the settings, like choosing specific days and times to use certain sensors in different parts of the house instead of just having preset times for morning, midday, evening, and night every day.

It's great when connected, but keeps disconnecting. A history button for tracking temperature changes would be helpful, along with the Nest learning feature. A security lock option that allows locking without giving control over thermostat adjustments would be nice. Small temperature changes have a big impact at home.

The app is so frustrating. You try to manage the settings, but it just does its own thing. I turn off some modes, but it turns them back on. You can't even set a temperature if you'll be out. And if it thinks you're away, it changes the temperature without asking. It pretends to give you options, but then ignores your selections.

It doesn't learn. I set it to 76, but after about an hour, it drops down to a freezing 72. There's no dark mode and only shows 2 weeks of history, even with the API. Google gave up on this product a long time ago. The pictures are even from the old Pixel 1.

It's been four years now and the rating is still relevant! We have simple cameras and thermostats in two houses located in separate states. It's convenient to check on the other house and adjust the thermostat when needed. Overall, we experience about 99% reliability. If the camera service cuts out, it's usually due to internet issues, not problems with the cameras themselves. We've been using these cameras and thermostats for more than three years. Well done, Google/Nest.

I've been using Nest for 2 years, but now I think it's not that great. The app is only good for turning on and off. The one who designed the schedule should be fired. Is this the best they could do? Also, who thought of Eco mode? I don't want it, but even after turning it off, it keeps coming back on. I'm always battling with the thermostat. It keeps lowering the heat when I don't want it to. I wouldn't suggest getting this product.

The push notifications are not great. It takes ten minutes from when someone is in front of my camera to get a notification. Lately, it's not even detecting activity in front of the camera. I don't understand why I keep paying for this service. I could achieve similar results with cameras that don't need a subscription. Plus, I can't even pause recorded videos. Now, despite having fast wifi and internet, it won't load. 👎

The app is awesome! I really love their products. But the motion zones are a total letdown. I keep getting fake alerts due to headlights and other lights triggering them. This flaw might make me switch to another brand eventually, even though I've invested a lot in this setup, which is a shame.
