Okey is a beloved tile game that has captivated players for generations in Turkey, often played in cozy coffee houses by enthusiasts of all ages. It offers a delightful blend of strategy and skill, reminiscent of Rummy/Rummikub, but with its own unique set of rules and challenges. Gather Your Tiles:

    The game features 106 tiles: 104 numbered tiles (1 to 13) in four different colors and 2 special 'false jokers' marked with stars.

    Each player holds 14 tiles at a time, striving to form sets and runs.

Your Objective:

    Draw one tile and discard one each turn, aiming to create a complete board of sets and runs with your 14 tiles.

Use of Jokers:

    Jokers play a crucial role in helping complete your board. They replace missing tiles and add a strategic layer to your gameplay.

    The last two tiles with stars act as 'false jokers' and function as regular numbered tiles.

Gameplay Tips:

Highlight Errors:

    If you discard a tile to the center (bank) and your sequences contain mistakes, they'll be highlighted in red for correction.

Joker Reminders:

    Press and hold a tile for three seconds to remind yourself about joker tiles during play.

How to Play Okey

1. Set Up the Game:

🌟 Get Your Racks Ready:

Each player gets 1 rack to keep their tiles organized.

🌟 Shuffle the Tiles:

Place all the tiles face-down on the table. Mix them up thoroughly to ensure they're well shuffled.

🌟 Understand the Tiles:

Each tile is numbered 1 to 13 and comes in 4 colors: red, yellow, green, and black. There are 2 tiles of each number in each color.

🌟 Decide the Dealer:

Players roll dice to determine the dealer. The highest roll becomes the dealer. After each round, the role of the dealer rotates counterclockwise.

2. Distribute the Tiles:

🌟 Prepare the Stacks:

Arrange the tiles into 21 stacks of 5 tiles each, with 1 tile left over. The dealer keeps the extra tile.

🌟 Deal the Stacks:

Distribute stacks to players. Players should have an even number of stacks, and the dealer should have at least 6 stacks.

3. Set Up the Okey:

🌟 Determine the Okey Tile:

The dealer rolls the dice to select a stack and a tile within that stack. The number rolled tells you which stack and tile to pick. The tile chosen becomes the okey for that round, with the joker being the tile of the same color and 1 number higher.

🌟 Reveal the Okey:

Place the okey tile face-up on the stack. This is the joker for the round. False jokers act as the joker too if drawn.

4. Distribute Tiles to Players:

🌟 Take Your Stacks:

Players take turns selecting stacks from the dealer’s right, moving counterclockwise. Each player should end up with 15 tiles, except the first player, who gets 16.

🌟 Set Up the Drawing Pile:

Place the remaining tiles in the center as the drawing pile. The stack with the okey tile should be placed to the right.

5. Play the Game:

🌟 Start the First Turn:

The player to the dealer’s right goes first, discarding one tile and placing it face-up. The goal is to form sets or runs.

🌟 Draw and Discard:

Players take turns drawing a tile from the pile or the discard pile and then discard a tile.

🌟 Form Sets and Runs:

Set: 3 or 4 tiles of the same number but different colors.

Run: 3 or more consecutive numbers of the same color.

Pair: 2 tiles of the same number but different colors.

🌟 Reveal Winning Hands:

To win, arrange all 14 tiles into sets or runs and reveal your hand. Remember, you must discard an extra tile to complete your hand.

🌟 Discard the Joker Last:

If you have a joker, try to discard it last to increase the points other players lose when you win.

6. Scoring:

🌟 Start with 20 Points:

Each player starts with 20 points. Points are subtracted based on how the winner wins.

🌟 Deduct Points:

Lose 2 points for an ordinary win, 4 points if the joker is discarded, or 4 points if the winner has 7 pairs.

🌟 End the Game:

The game ends when a player’s score reaches zero. The player with the highest score at that point wins.
