CONS

Complex Setup for Non-Technical Users

The application offers functions like monitoring, controlling, exploring, and configuring IP cameras. It goes beyond a basic camera viewer by supporting all modern IP cameras conforming to ONVIF® standards and older cameras through generic RTSP and MJPEG protocols.

Translations for various languages are provided by different individuals/entities.

Key Features:

- ONVIF - Compatibility with over 5000 NVT devices (e.g., network cameras, servers).

- Generic RTSP/MJPEG - Support for non-ONVIF IP cameras via RTSP or MJPEG streams.

- RTSP over HTTP - Helps viewers bypass firewalls and simplifies server port configurations.

- Explore - Detailed exploration of device properties.

- H.264 - Advanced Video Coding format for smoother video playback with high compression efficiency.

- Audio Support - AAC and G.711 support.

- MP4 - Recording in standard MP4 format with H.264 video and AAC audio encoding.

- Discovery - Instant detection of all ONVIF devices for easy camera integration.

- PTZ - Pan/tilt support with digital PTZ for non-PTZ cameras in the Pro version.

- Widget - Android home screen snapshot preview and quick video stream launch.

- Snapshot Preview - App home screen with periodically updated snapshots.

- Multi-view - Simultaneous viewing of multiple cameras.

- Portrait/Landscape - Supports both viewing orientations for flexible display options.

FAQ

Which cameras should I choose to use with the apps?

In theory, our apps work with almost every network camera on the current market one way or another. However, we highly recommend ONVIF conformant cameras to protect your investment regardless of whether you use our apps. There are over 10,000 ONVIF conformant IP camera models. The challenge is determining the true ONVIF conformance of an camera as explained by the following Q/A.

It is impossible for anyone to recommend one specific model of camera even if a brand is specified. For example, Axis Communications has dozens of different models that suit different use cases. Like many other devices, the best network cameras do not have the best prices, and the network cameras with the best prices may have quality and standard conformance issues.

How can I retrieve a forgotten password for a camera from the app?

Unfortunately, the app has deliberately made the password retrieval difficult for security reasons. This is because some users share the access to some their cameras by exporting a list and they do not want the recipients to know the passwords for the shared cameras. For this reason, we do not assist any users to retrieve passwords because the liability and the legal process to prove the ownership of a camera would be too costly for us.

Why can the app reach a camera without user name/password?

Unfortunately, some cameras have security holes. We have observed the following types:

- Web UI and ONVIF service use different authentication systems, and the ONVIF services do not require authentication even though the web UI does.

Streaming not requiring authentication or providing a streaming URL including credential information.

ONVIF requires digest access authentication that is much more secure than the basic access authentication used by most cameras' web UI. Unfortunately, some manufacturers do not implement it. We suggest users contact the manufacturers of their cameras with this issue to urge them to fix it by updating the firmware. We will do our part whenever we have a chance.

Why can't the app discover ONVIF conformant IP devices when my mobile device is on a cellular network?

When a mobile device is connected to a cellular network, it is on a wide area network (WAN), more specifically, a wireless wide area network. First, the ONVIF discovery uses Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) that is not applicable to WAN. Second, it would be impractical to send out probes to millions of devices on a WAN to discover potentially tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of ONVIF conformant devices. Discovery is available only for LAN connection. For current mobile devices, a LAN connection effectively means a WiFi connection most of the time.

Installing was super easy. All my SV3C cameras were quickly set up. I upgraded to Pro for only $3.99, such a great price! I'm impressed with the features and still discovering more. I highly suggest trying it out. Just wish I had the key to install on my other devices. Can't seem to get any help with that.

So, in the free version, almost every button triggers a message saying you need to pay for that feature. It's annoying, but you can just ignore them. However, after using it for some time, a line keeps appearing on the multi-view video, making it hard to close. You manage to close it, but it comes back shortly after, ruining the viewing experience. A recent update from Biyee claims there shouldn't be such a line, but it was definitely there for me. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app to remove it, and it did return, not long after I left a review. After another reinstall and ignoring review requests, the issue seems to have disappeared. It could just be a bug, as the line only appeared after leaving a review. Despite this, I've decided to give the app a higher rating.

I really like the app! But there's a small issue. I tend to have trouble reconnecting my camera, even though I've used it successfully before. I end up having to delete and re-add it each time. And now, my IP camera won't connect at all, even though it has connected several times in the past. However, I must say that the options, layout, and overall user interface are excellent!

On my Samsung Galaxy S7, I've been using this app to monitor two HD cameras from different manufacturers at home. It works flawlessly and is really easy to use. The app detected and displayed both cameras without any issues. I used the device information it gave me to set up iSpy on my PC. I'm definitely considering buying the full version of the app, but I do wish it could be shared in my family's library. I also tried it on my Galaxy S9, and it ran perfectly there too.

This program is super easy to use and has a really stylish and professional look. The software isn't holding me back at all, it's actually my hardware that sets the limits on what I can do. The only feature the camera's viewer has that this one doesn't is using my microphone. I'm pretty sure I just need to figure out how to set that up. I really like this app - I love it so much, I even paid for the pro upgrades for both the Android and Windows versions. It was definitely worth the around $10 investment for each of them.

The app and the technical support for Onvif compliant cameras are both amazing. I started with the free version and later bought the pro version. I have a network with multiple cameras, and most of them worked well except for one. The technical support team was very responsive and kept on sending emails back and forth to fix the issue with connecting this camera. I really suggest using this app.

The app is great! It has all the information you need to know how to use it, and the positive reviews are accurate. I am a hobbyist and enjoying using it.
